I've had both, and can say that electric is easier. I wouldn't say better, but definitely easier. If you do your research going in, you will have yourself an electric setup that is fast, reliable, and cheaper in the long run (assuming no freak electronics failures). I've got some electric gear that is a decade old and still runs just fine (Novak Cyclone and Trinity motors) - it is obsolete, but it still fires up just fine.
