Maybe I'm missing something. Looks like a xxx-sct with a buggy body, or a xxx buggy with sc wheels.

link dont work, but from what you are describing it sounds like a XXX SCT with an overtray.

My question is, is it just a Short course truck with a buggy body? I don't really see anything different mechanically.

I guess if people want to race buggies instead of trucks it's awesome. I kinda like trucks myself.

Interesting to see who's next to jump on this.

Yeah comparing specs on my computer now (was on iphone earlier) it is 40mm shorter, same width (got to be a mistake), 6mm shorter, 7mm shorter wheelbase, and almost 1/2 pound lighter.

I says 290mm width like the xxx-sct, that can't be right

cool looking! So, now there is this and kyosho db. Maybe ae is working on one for next year that will be powered by the feces of jungle ants and is full time one wheel drive.
