We run at a large indoor clay track where temps vary from 20 to 50 degrees during the winter season. Sportsman 2wd SCT, 17.5 SCT and Pro 2wd SCT. Most drivers use pink Beams, but we like to support USA-made products. We've had good luck with Cityblocks outdoors, and like Panther Rattler super softs indoors. We prefer premounts, however. Looking at the Chainlinks. Would they work well in a track that gets like permafrost for a few months of the year? I'm thinking the super soft compound would be superior, but how about the clay compound?

Couple of q's - running 2wd & 4wd 10th buggies.
What's the difference between impact's and gridiron's - what's the equivalent to a Holeshot/double Dee.
Cheers.

If you are speaking in regards to 1/8 tires, the GridIron (not the GridIron II) is closest to a Double Dee tread, and the GridIron II is an evolution of that tread with smaller pins and a less aggressive edge.

We ran one of our 2wd SCTs at a high grip clay track in PA the past 2 Saturdays. Yesterday, after the first heat, we switched rear tires from Deja Vu SSs to Chainlink clay compound. Avg 1 second faster laps from first heat to 2nd and main. Also faster than any laps the previous week. My son is impressed!

Chain links work on loose dirt as well. I tried them
I have 2 vechicles with the Chain Links on them my brushless 8th and 2wd Short Course

Does anyone know if the AKA EVo in associated offset fit the Xray XB2? and what hex may/may not be needed? the slicks are awesome ONCE THEY ARE BROKEN IN. I think many people don't know this, at least at my local track....

On actual dirt that is loose you want something with much deeper lugs and possibly something sharper to dig in. In the dry from AKA I like the city blocks.
Ask your local track what works there.

Is it the tire or the insert you're breaking in? Depending on the traction level you may just want to either use the red inserts or used black inserts. The traction level at my home track is very high so I usually just have to scuff the tires with a sanding stick to get the 'shine' off the tires and run a few laps to get my tires to the optimal point.

My track is high grip clay. Just used some liquid wrench to break in a few times then sticky kicks red. Everyone is running prines. I've run both. Prines are way better out of the gate. Aka slicks are plasticky. But, once they were REally broken in (10 batteries...)they had too much traction to heavily sauce. Was traction rolling all over the place until I tamed the car down and used only a little sauce or none at all
I run the -0.75mm on the front and +3.75mm on the rear with the AKA 12mm rims, both EVO and 2.2" diameters. This is the most common setup on that car, although you can run the wheels with the stock hexs without issue.
