Engine recommendations
 

I have an old school Kyosho Raider pro just sitting around with a stock 540 electric motor in it. What motor would be my best bet to bring the speed up to a competitive level? I would be looking for something probably under 50 bucks.

Trinity Speed Jem motors are a nice budget minded motor. But for 15 or so bucks more you can get a compeition grade motor like a V2 or D6.

thers a motor from tem orion i thaught looks ok.
try the team orion rush mod motor.
u can get one new from ebay for around 16 dollars but they look awsome.
(rrp of around $30 )

they got allot of gud feature too (also in allot of winds)
gold plated endbell...adjustable timing... and some others...

makes a REAL good motor and gives great results but dont cost a fortune...
