Budget motors, which is the best?
Simply put, my truck isn't fast enough with my 16 turn, which is the best motor i can buy for $60 CND or less? that includes all budge motors like the kyoshos, Speed Gems, Orbitals, what ever other budget motor there is out there. i am looking in the 13 turn range, 12 or 14 is ok too. i am also looking at Specs and Stocks, are they as fast as what i am looking at?
i am looking to make my T3 (ST) do 30+ mph, if i need a lower turn just inform me, the goal is to go 30 mph with out spending a small fortune, soo i am looking at budget motors.
i am think that i want 200+ watts and Nmm or is that more than i need to do 30+ mph.

Reedy has new budget motors coming out based on the Quad Mag design. Should be good motors and should put them on your list as well.
I am not sure if you thought of this already but do you have any maintanence tools like a lathe? These lower turn motors will need more maintanence ( though not as bad as say a 10turn ) than your 16 turn so they run at peak performance and give you the speed you want.

Dude, personally I would drop a little more loot and go for a Peak or Orion. For the money the motor can't be beat. I have gone easily 20 + runs with my 10d and have not needed cutting. I was used to cutting my motors often. I am in such a habit of cutting my motors so much that I still take them apart every race day to check the condition of the comm.
I think for the life of the v2 technology your money is best spent on one. It would be like buying 3 or 4 'budget priced' motors.
my $.02

Watch your gearing though. If you gear your pinion too high, you will over cook the motor.

accutally the better motors are $100 here, not $80. and i forgot about that quad mag, does anybody know when it is out? and the price.

My friend had an Orbital 2 Pro BB 12x3 (about $35 US) and it lasted a long time and ran very well. Here is a link to them on Orions page

I would guess that my friends XXT went close to 30 with this motor when it was new.

could you squeeze a bigger pinon on there? seems to me there would be alot of adjusting you could do to get it over 30

Go with a Trinity Speed Gems....

wow factor
Do yourself a favor and try an Orion Revolution.
You'll get a really fast motor that doesn't need anywhere near as much maintenance as a traditional modified motor.
We switched over to one after using a Speed Gems, a Reedy KR and a Trinity D5.
We're not going back to any other mod motor at this point.
Check this thread out, read as much of it as you can:

brushes and comm
Try and keep the commutator cut and replace the brushes regularly if you are only bashing and the motor will remain fast.
