Default Rustler old slipper vs new

I have old non Xl-5 Ruslter and am converting to BL. I just bought new VXL tranny off ebay thinking it would be easier than rebuilding it. It also came with the axles. I didn't really look to closely and assumed it came with spur gear, slipper assembly, and gear cover. It didn't.

Can I use the old spur and slipper from my old tranny or would I be better off getting the new parts? Does the new slipper hold up better to BL?

The input shaft on the newer trans is a different set-up than your old trans and slipper. I just converted my old stampede to a new slipper set up.
Yes, the new setup will work MUCH better with BL too.
