I have it set to 10 Deg. which is the normal setting. Should I drop it down to 5 or can it take more? Thanks
4 pole motors don't like timing...Personally I run 0, but 10 shouldn't do much either way.

I'm currently running a slash 4x4 with a center diff with 14/54 gearing, tenshock 4000kv, MMP, castle bec, turnigy servo, traxxas 2.4ghz combo, gens ace 5000mah 40c 2s Lipo
No matter what esc setting I try I get cogging at startup
Today I went to a track and at times the motor would just stop and would barely respond to any throttle then go back to normal, it coggs on startup only and half the time when trying to reverse
this cogging is driving me crazy and I just want it gone
Im running deans and have solid solder joints all around any advice ?
Which motor are you running the SC401 or SC411?

This is the problem I was having and switched from sensorless to the sensored tenshock and the problem appears to be gone thus far. I will know for sure at the next race. I am also running the cc bec and a Savox 1258 servo.

I'm a basher and never race but here are the ESC settings I use

Start Power High
Torque Limit Disabled
Punch Disabled
0 Timing

After calibrating try adding some throttle trim until just before the car starts to move on a flat surface

Can also try rolling back the ESC software, sometimes makes a difference

Cheers

Its the sc401 sensorless version and the esc is the hpi q-base which is the hpi version from the savage flux 2350 so the software is locked to 1.24
I tried different esc setting med and high start power no timing and also the trim and it still coggs

That could be a problem

I would send the ESC into Castle and get them to unlock it

Cheers

No way!

Get a dedicated 1/8 BL system.

Not likely,

Grab one of the 6 Pole X802 motors, they make some serious grunt

Cheers

MMP or RX8

My Xerun 150 doesnt run mine well at all, it gets far too hot for my liking

Those running ESC's that have dual drive type modes (switching between sensored / sensorless) seem to be having better luck

Not sure if it can be fixed in software which apparently HW are working on

Cheers
