I picked up a 4600 the other day and am happy with it's performance on 2s.
Well now i have a 3s itch. I read this motor can handle 3s. Is it recommended?
I am running it in a Hyper 10TT on and off road. Any idea on gearing. I was at 13T pinion on the 2s and it was cool and no cogging on the MMp.

what's the smallest pinion that will fit? if it will fit, i'd start with a 9 or 10T and just watch your temps (temp it at 3 or 4 minutes, then again after 6 or 7 minute). as long as you keep it under about 160, it should be ok.

New to this 4 pole deal, and to Lipos and all LOL.

So whats a good choice for a speedo for one of these SC411 5200kv, in a 4X4 1/10th scale SC?

Also what batteries, 3s 11.1 volt?

Would like to use something intended for a 1/20th scale, aka non 1/8th scale controller. LRP make anything, or Viper that can handle this?

Thanks, Krom.

Viper copper head combo $150 is what you need if you don't want to run 8th scale esc. my first choice is rx8

These motors pull serious amps and you wont get away with running a smaller ESC

Hobbywing SCT-Pro or Xerun 150 will do the job fine

The 5200 is not suitable for 3s, you will need to run the 3500

Gensace 5000mah 40c for the budget minded shopper

Cheers

Just got mine last week for testing. Been trying different speedo combo. This is a very powerful motor for a great price.

Pro:
- Smoother than tekin Pro4
- Can handle some heat
- Good bearings
- Great power brand.

Con:
- Built in wire

Nice! is that hobbywing ESC full aluminum? or is it plated plastic? I've been wondering that for longest.

On a side note, I just want to say, My sc401 motor has been running strong for 4 months so far. No decrease in power, or anything. Wires are still good, I keep my Motor bearing oiled all the time. Motor temps are nice, (160-170). Just raw power. One of the best combo's on the market, and most underrated.

pic of my ride.

to the guy above that's running the new sensored motor, Which Kv motor did you get????

How does it push the Losi Scte around because thats where I would be putting it and which pinion gear are you running with it?

Does the shaft basically free spin like the pro 4 when u try to turn it over by hand or is it rough like the castle stuff?

You say its smoother then the Pro 4 Ive only ran the pro4 for a sensored motor with my rx8 and its smooth as hell so I cant even imagine.

You can also pre-order from CKhobby, should be shipping in the next few days or so:

re the hobbywing SC Pro esc:
The fan on the hobbywing SC pro is plastic, the bottom case is also plastic, and the heat sink is of course aluminum. I took the fan off mine, don't think I'll need it with the 4000kv model I have coming . It's basically just like the SC8 you have, Feint.

I'm currently testing the 4600, I will be getting the 4000 soon. The motor is very close to a Novak 4.5 with hi torque rotor.

I don't own a rx8 with Pro4, but i have drove many of them. For 4000kv, the power is manage able with some tweak, but I feel 4600kv is too much. the pro4 pair with rx8 have a noticeable turbo kick feel, I have yet to drive one that have a constant power brand from low to high.
