I would start with a 12-13t 32p pinion.

Does anyone make a 48p 5mm bore pinion ?

I got my tenshock sc401 last friday. I run a hyper 10sc and use my trusty old school mamba max( I only run 2-3s and dont plan on running sensored so why change). As of now I'm running a 13t gear and its fast. I can run through a 5000 pack and both the esc and motor are barely warm to the touch (though it is 60 out). I tried 3s and its crazy. Nice motor, great deal. The Ofna heat sink fits perfect but no need.

hopefully some here can give a answer.
i only have ran sensored motors.accept for a sc10rtr that was just horrible in throttle control.

are the tenshock or sensorless motors able to be smoothed out close to sensored with the speedo.

They exhibit a small amount of cogging but no worse than any other sensorless motor

Cheers

Cannot compare the SC10 RTR sensorless motor to the Tenshock motor. The Tenshock is of much better quality .

Like crusey said, All Sensorless motors exhibit low speed cogging. If you like to drive at 1-2 mph your gonna have some cogging no matter what motor or esc you use.

The tenshock is very smooth through out the throttle range.

Good luck !!

I messed around with diffrent motors/esc and today.

4000kv using the SC10 speed controller, In a nexx 10sc without issue. ESC was nice and cool so i would say that is pretty safe to use.

Tried the 4600kv using a xerun 120a v2.1, Turned timing down and punch at 7 everything worked great. Cogging was minimal at low speeds and acceleration felt very good.

thanks for that, just ordered a 11t and a 13t pinion from amain.

ill start with the 13 and see how my temps go.

ive got the 5200kv on the way with a sc8 speedy from the same company.

Just a question, could someone explain to me how the kv works. the lower the kv the more top speed, acceleration, etc etc etc?

thanks for all the help. i cooked my 5.5 motor in im my sc10 4x4, got up to about 130 degrees celcius, and desoldered itself inside.

im currently running a 13.5t geared to the max, seems good buy i cant wait for the tenshock.

KV is a measure to represent rpms per volt

4600kv = 34,000 rpms
5200kv = 38,000 rpms

If everything else stays the same a higher kv motor will make the motor spin faster (higher top speed)

Not worth comparing motors from different manufacturers based on KV as they all construct motors differently

Decide what batteries you plan to run

Decide what speed you want

Select a motor / esc combo that will allow it without excess heat

Cheers
