Is there going to be room for a heatsink on the motor though? looks tight to me!
I will be sure and report back ASAP. I hope to finish tonight and race on Friday.

The main reason for the trade was that the AE is a bit lighter than the Losi. It is my hope that I won't need any type of heatsink on the AE. If I do though, I'll probably end up making or buying something that fits the new truck. You're right, my current solution probably won't fit in the AE at all. From everything I could find, the AE should be 8-10oz lighter. I had both trucks in my hand with electroncs, batteries, etc... and the AE did seem a bit ligher. I didn't have a scale to say for sure.

I'll be sure and have a temp gun handy for the AE testing.

I just picked up a hyper TT myself and will need another combo for this truck. Off the top of my head I'm thinking 4600kv. I would be curious what other people recommend. I sold my friend my spare 4600kv for his CRT.5. I'll ask him how it's been doing in that truck.

I'm using 2S lipos in 45C and 5000mah.

I can't decide myself wether to choose the 4000kv or the 4600kv, what do you think?

I'll use the hyper 10TT on 1/10 tracks (astro and clay) and might do some racing action during the winter in an indoor astro track. I need the system to be smooth and efficient.

I'm hesitating between 2 and 4 pole motor for the Hyper 10TT. The 4 poles give torque but are they still smooth?

Installed a 5200kv in a TT.

Was it overkill ? Yes ! Temps in the 150's with a 11t pinion.

Im thinking temps shouldnt be a issue in the AE 4x4, Runnin in Slash, Jammins, Hypers and the Nexx have not had any problems using 12,13 and on cool days a 14t with the 4600kv.

Far as a heatsink that fits I have a few diffrent ones coming my way to get tested out. You can PM me if anyone is interested in doing the test work.

what would be a good starting point to gear a 5200kv in a slash 4x4?

i would say 12T if you're using the 54T spur. i have the 4600kv and 14 seems to be the sweetspot for me (temps around 150 after a full pack).

What voltage are you running ?

If running 2s gear it for 35 mph

If running 3s gear it for 45 mph

Monitor your temps and go from there

Cheers

So you are using the 14/54 combo and find the temp around 150, is that right (32p i assume).

In my testing the 4600 is closer to 4000kv when loaded

If you assume the 5200 comes down to 4500 or so

13/54 on 2s would be good for 36 mph, 54 mph on 3s

I would imagine it would still get fairly hot at those speeds

Cheers

i feel like i did really well. i'm still new to the scene. this was only like my 5th time racing. being unfamiliar with the track, i got faster with each qual/main. i qual'd 7th for a-main. score sheet said i finished 6th, but it should have been 4 or 5. on the last lap i went just inside off the track where the loop is. it didn't count my last lap. i went from a fast lap on the first qual of like 27 to a 23.4 in the main (tire change helped). the best moment was in the second qual when i completely walked a losi on the straight. there was a jump right at the beginning of the straight coming off a right turn. coming off the jump he was ahead of me by probably 3 or 4 feet. i caught him half way and by the end of the straight had a 2 or 3 foot lead on him. i'm still ridiculously pleased with the motor/esc combo (SC401 4600kv/hobbywing SC8).

a buddy of mine who came to watch (wife was out of town and he had both kids so he couldn't race) said it was funny that i was able to compete with my "basher" truck (slash 4x4).

tenshock rocks.

Is there anyway to get the 4000kv motor if you live outside the US and Canada?
