So I am gonna try cleaning my E-Maxx and Revo tonight. I am gonna start with the E-Maxx first. I read you can spray pretty much everyting with WD-40 then just air compress it dry.

Anything I should AVOID doing while I attempt this?

Should I cover the electronics and servos? Can they get sprayed a little?

We use wd40 to dry out distributers after water crossings (that got a little deep). It *should* be safe around electrical stuff. I just wonder if contains any solvents? Personally, I wouldn't do it. I think that even if you use a compressor to dry it, the film of oil will still remain, giving the dirt a good base to stick to when you attack the sand dunes again.

I would not spray your electronics, just to be safe.

WD-40 does not leave a residue that will attract dirt.

A lot of guys at my track are spraying their tires with WD-40. I tried it and it works really well. The tires become VERY soft and can easily become one-run tires. But if you're looking for the little extra grip, this is the way. As for cleaning stuff....Motor spray and simple green. I spray motor spray on everything then wipe it clean. If I want a more detailed and time-mannered look, then simple green.

I'm glad you have a good sense of humor, there are too many on line that would have taken that the wrong way... I thought it was funny.

Never tried the tire additive route off-road. Its too bad we don't have much in the way of clay up here (MA)..

why would you spray wd40 on anything. I've heard of guys doing it to make clean up later a little easier...what possible
benefit could it have.

Why not just use a mild cleaner and water to clean off your parts.

Heck I just take the electrics out and power spray mine when it gets bad..then all I have to do is dry it out,

Oh and I also take the motor off. (most of the time )

Its quick and very effective...

Water is bad for metal. WD-40 is not, but you get the same cleaning effect.

If you ever soak your car with water, make sure to spray it down with WD-40 and blow it off with an air compressor.

Smoking, lighting matches, playing with fire, etc. I also wouldnt do it near a pilot light, some guy cleaned his car with motor spray in his basement and the pilot light lit the fumes (or the evaporated motor spray) and his car was destroyed.

If you are racing in very dirty conditions especially right after someone watered the track, you can lightly spray WD40 on your car (mainly on the arms and "outer extremities" and when you get off the track just hit you car up with a near by air compessor. This way will allow your car to be clean for each round and it takes no time at all.

Also in response to any questions about what to and not to spray on electronics.... Go by your local hardware store and buy some CorrosionX and spray all of your electroics with that.
After you do that and whipe it up, you can pretty much put your electronics in anything and they will still function fine. So for clean up (once protected) you can go to town with any solvent you want and not worry about getting anything on your electronics.
