Hey, I'm getting my first 1/8 scale buggy(XB8) and I have a new servo lying around and was wondering if you think it would be good enough to handle the thottle/brake duties? Its the SERVO-HS-625MG Super Torque; 94 oz/in at .15 sec. Let me know what you think. If its borderline then I'll get something else, thou I'd like to use it.

Any servo will do..but since you're getting a top of the line buggy, you might as well get top of the line electronics too, right?

The Futaba 9402, 9450, and 9350, the Airtronics 94358/359/360, and the JR 8550 are among some of the best servos money can buy. I personally will be using two 359's in my buggies.

I like to use the 359 and 360's in my buggies. the 359's is overkill for throttle and brake so I run the faster 360 on it. How are you liking your xb8?

yes that servo will work very well. if it ever fails, then id look into one of the other ones recommended. until then you save $100 since you already own it. i use the 645MG for my steering in my buggy and it works just fine.

The 600 series Hitec servos are much more prone to failure than most other servos including the other Hitecs. If you already have it, then I guess it doesn't really matter at this point, but if not, then go with any of the other servos people have suggested on this thread.

for 60 bucks you can get the HS5625 oir the 5945 digital servos.... much better

Simple answer, yes it will work fairly well. If it ever fails you may want to get something better.

The airtronics 94360 servo i have found has a large heat sink on it, does this seem right? Can only find this one on the ultimate and southcoast sites. Rick

Yes, the case is a heatsink.
