I noticed that the posts for the saddle straps are different then the one's used for the Cougar SV with a saddle configuration.

These posts use a thumb screw versus body clips.

Some of the "A" team drivers in europe will have theirs in the next few days from what I hear.

I would say - frontend is really the same.
It will be worse with upgrade. from frontend to back you can use:
gears,
gearbox tops,
diff
bearings
bumper

Most expensive parts are new: chassis and center/rear bulkheads (belts are new as well but they aren't as expensive as previous two)

I know that proto car (had it in my hands during summer) was made out of SX2 by dremeling rear bulkheads. But I guess it means that you need 2 sets of rear bulkheads (maybe I'm wrong). They made custom chassis, and had those new belts. It might would be doable for those that want to spare some money - you would need to get just belts from schuey.
Yes of course it require skills with tools to do it.

Even though I'm glad they are continuing to evolve the SX platform....I've always considered the SX as front heavy, so much so I have been heavily considering adapting the (SV) saddle pack kit to my Sx1/2 - using an unused S1 (version 1) lower chassis as donor... if I didn't know any better, I'd say the SX3 sounds like a backwards step in engineering terms.

...some may say; yet another a cash grab, but I understand R&D isn't free

If there is a conversion set from Sx1/2 to SX3 it'd be at least £129
lower alloy rear diff halves, SV c/f saddle pack set + posts and body set not including belts (a lot cheaper elsewhere if you know where to look)

However, I reserve judgment until there is evidence (upon release) from club racers racing on dirt/clay as I still consider a light weight chassis + belts to be the best combo for stock racing post esc boosting (17.5)

Until then, I'd prefer to spend my money on an Atomic DEX410-Ultra tub

no conversion! response from Mike...

"Hi there
I’m afraid as far as I know you could buy the parts to upgrade the car but I would of thought the cost doing it this way would be more expensive than buying the new kit as the different new parts are the expensive parts of a car."

I asked tom cockril in europe about a conversion parts

From memory, you would need:

Side & Rear belts
Centre & Rear Lower Transmission housings
Chassis, lipo cradle, battery posts, straps & top decks
Centre Layshafts, slipper plates and misc. bearings
Motor mount & side gears
Side belt tensioner
Bodyshell & under tray
And a few parts I've probably missed

So there is quite a bit that is different, and there mainly the expensive alloy/carbon parts

We are all pretty much agreed that the car is a much improved step forward in driveability, which has yielded better lap times as we're more comfortable with the car. It will take a little while longer to get them perfectly setup, but the initial thoughts are that it seems to have less steering than the SX2, but much greater rear end traction and stability.

There were 4 pre-production car's running that all made the A final, including 1, 2 & 3 on the grid. The finals didn't exactly go to plan, but all in all we were extremely happy with the performance of the car, and there were no failures.

Going to be a dumb question possibly...

Looking at the pic where the motor attaches...what prevents it from hitting the belt? Is it just the angle of the photo?

I have alway liked the durability of the Schumacher 4wd buggies.
