i want to upgrade to lipo batteries and get brushless but cant do both at once.

so what one first if i do the lipo first can i run lipo on a brushed motor and what all do i need to convert to lipo batteries what is the cheapest way i can do this

if i do brushless first can i use nimh batterys with a brushless system and sill get ok run times or do i pretty much need lipo with brushless what is the cheapest way to go brushless

What type of car? Racing bashing? Remember you need a lipo charge and balancer as well.

I would go brushless first, if you have ok batteries now. Very easy to work with.

Yes, you can use Nimh batteries with a brushless system.

Brushless provides better run times than brushed.

However, Lipo provides better run times than Nimh.

As for gearing, there is a possibility you will have to change the gearing.

I would also vote for the brushless first.

A couple reasons.

A brushless system can run just fine off of the standard nimh batteries. In many cases you can expect longer run times due to the system being more efficient. This of course is dependent on gearing and how long you will be at full trigger

To run lipos in the best form you would want something that comes with a lipo cutoff, brushless systems pretty much come standard with these.

I would grab a few different gear combos to play around with, they should be pretty cheap. In many (but not all) cases, brushless seems to net more torque and be quite more linear than an old brushed setup. Therefor allowing for a much taller gear when compared to a motor of equivalent power.

Once you get the ability to grab some lipo gear, it is some sweet icing on that cake

Not only will increase your speed but also efficiency run cooler and longer and also maintaince free for the most part. All you would need to do is do some motor bearing cleaning.
