i called tekin on this exact issue when i was shopping for electronics. They told me a RS Pro will work but itsnt your best choice, you will have temp issues on the esc and possible cutting out. Also the RX8 is cheaper then the Pro. I also asked about the 540 redlines to the 550 sc motors. he didnt suggest it as the 4x4 are heavy and again would put a lot of stain on the motor and temp issues

When it dries out go to a smaller lug tire and smaller sway bars. You can also add some droop. What tires are you guys using down there?

All I have is stock with bad foams, worn gridirons on red foams, and the new med 2.0 calibers. I think my next set will be soft or super soft enduro's. Unless someone makes sense to run something else.

I would rather bash with the Losi than any other 4x4 SC out there. Make sure you have hardened diff pins, then this truck is more durable than others. For bashing, I would also change out the towers.

If you want to race, you will also have a much better race truck.

This coming from a guy who owned the Slash 4x4 and Jammin.

Not trying to flame you here but,
Doesn't adding a 43 tooth spur gear make the truck have a lower top end? But have more low end? So running you 2400 with a 20 tooth on the stock 40 tooth should be faster for speed runs at least. If you want more top end on your 2400 you need to get the elite motor mount and get a 23 tooth pinion then you will be a blur lol. Oh yeah and get a 4s lipo, 6s if your really feeling brave. Not rated for 6s but it can handle it for short runs. I'd say if you could keep it on the ground around 90mph with 23/40 on 6s.

it might just be me, but why would someone rather change the spur instead of the pinions? i mean its already a pain to get the center diff out let alone just take it out for a spur high speed runs?

There is no plan at this time to make more spur gears. The stock size has proven a good fit for most every 550 out there that is suitable for the truck

As for the person talking about ratios...yes, going to a larger spur will result in more bottom end, less top end.

Larger spur gears on this truck limit your top speed.. that's it nothing else.. the 40t is best of the available choices.. now a 38t, 39t would be great if they released as that would actually give more gearing options. But as the other guys said a 43t spur would only slow you down and limit your pinion size further.. decreasing speed even more.

Why don't u guys use the speed passions gt 2.0. Awsome esc runs a 550 Can perfect. No heat issues is only 130 bucks has all the programing options. Small and runs sensored and sensorless. I love mine.

The 43t spur is a great option for higher KV motors, and for anyone looking to experiment with different motors of varying KV and not wanting to buy a whole new range of pinions. Some of the guys here have had great success lowering the temps of some high KV motors like the Tekin 4.5 that really doesn't have the torque of the other 550's and allows them to use the same range of opinions that other 550 users run.

It also allows you to split the difference between pinion sizes, as the larger spur is about a 1.5 tooth smaller pinion equivalent.

It would be nice to have a 37 tooth or so as well, to help users with motors on the other end of the KV spektrum.
