I would start at 12 with current limiter at 65%.

Default Tire recommendations

What 2-3 sets of tires are must have for racing different tracks? Not trying to start a tire war, just what sets are your 2-3 go to tires. I know that every track can me different depending on surface. I want to have a few to pick from. I am fixing to place and RC order for tires.

Soft or SS Panther Raptors, Pro-line Blockade, or AKA Grid Irons are great tires for all but loose loamy tracks. If I only had one set of tires I would grab something from this list.

Soft Pro-line Bowfighters, Losi Eclipse, AKA Enduro, Panther Boa for looser outdoor tracks.

Clay Panther Switch, JC Pressure Points or JC BarCodes for indoor.

If you had one set of tires from each of these three groups you could be competitive at most tracks.

Totally depends on the dirt.

I will Panther tires so I will use those for example.

I will typically run Clay Rattlers indoor.

Outdoor. blue groove. I will run soft rattlers as long as temps are about ~70-80 deg. If it is cooler I will go to SS rattlers.

For wet tracks with a little loam I will run soft raptors. If it is cold I will go to the SS raptors. If the track is super loamy I would go to boas.

Depends on the condition of the track and the outside temps.

Does the 4 pole motor use the same pinion as the sc4x? What is a good starting pinion size?

The one thing I don't like is the horrible parachuting from the body but that's not a surprise considering I've been driving it on a 1/8th scale track with some big jumps. I don't want to get a new body just yet so I guess I'll just have to do some cutting on the current body. Anyway, just wanted to share my experience with my scte; I definitely want to start racing it soon.
The truck will def handle differently with a proline VW body for the Slash! The dimples on the body fit as swell Cut the fenders all the way back ,about a 1/4 inch left is all against the body and cut the front end off above the headlight buckets! This set up works so good its just stupid!Could be its own class, they are that fun to drive! If I can find my cable i will upload the picture of mine! The truck will need more braking now and the lack of body roll will keep you on your toes!!
