When I'll eventually need to replace the stock shocktowers I'd like to get carbon fiber ones, does it matter which brand I take ?

Losi : http://www.losi.com/Products/Feature...rodId=LOSB2172
SNR : http://www.snrgraphite.com/index.php...products_id=12
FTW : http://www.avidrc.com/product/18/ftw...00012-ftw.html
Xtreme Racing : http://www.xtremercracing.com/TEN_SCTE.cfm
MIP (But I hear these are bad because they're thinner ?) : http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_...ar-Shock-Tower

..and probably more that I haven't found yet.

Any public favourites ?

The Losi XX/XXX4 are belted. Is this something different, something new?

The MIP tower is part of the Pro4mance package and changes the geometry. If you're OK w/ that, it's a good shock tower. Otherwise, stick with one of the others.

I chose Losi myself, price was right in line with everything else and quality was great. Someone with a keen eye questioned the roundness/accuracy of SNR's holes.

I went SNR but i did so becuz i have the 8ight shocks so i did the +9mm to accommodate the taller shock but didnt have an issue with the holes as stated above. The MIP's arent good to go with unless you have the MIP kit...someone posted back that they had them and it totally messed up the handling of the truck but other than that i would go with what you want or prefer...jsut like the chassis debate as its more a user preference or something about the one you pick as i went KH chassis to reduce the angle of the center drive shafts and the MIP kit wasnt out yet

i would watch out for snr...i bought the snr towers to convert an rc8.2 into a 1/10 sc (pretty much a sc10 4x4 that handled like a champ)...but the rear tower snapped in half the 1st time i landed on the lid...not a scratch on them besides that...called snr and they told me that they do not warranty any of there graphite parts but they would give me 20% off if i wanted to buy another lol...now i run the associated woven carbon fiber one on my rc8.2 with 0 problems...i'm not positive but i think the whole carbon graphite vs woven carbon fiber is the difference...but again i'm not sure

i've had my SNR towers for over a year and they are still in great shape after many crashes.

I have always had great luck with the SNR equipment, that being said I run the losi graphite towers since they came in the tuning kit. That has a lot of goodies in it, and the price is very fair as well! Makes this truck more tunable and quite a bit more durable. Great truck either way!

Before buying shock towers do some planning. Are you going to get the TLR tuning kit or MIP Pro4mance kit in the future? Either comes with good shock towers, so you'd be wasting money buying them separately.

Good remark, this is exactly why I want to know about the shock towers separately.
I am planning NOT to buy the TLR or MIP kit but instead piece together my own tuning kit in combination with the (non-TLR, Non-MIP) chassis and suspension of my liking.

I have all the electronics just looking for the right kit/roller to throw it in. My intentions are to race but also run around parks and do some bashing. Iím an on road racer so Iím not too serious about off road, yet... but want to have a competitive truck at the track. If I was to take this roller to the track what would I wish I had. Iím talking option parts, what are the must haves for serious racing what are the nice to haves? Is there stuff I need to tear apart besides the diffs before I race? Your wisdom is appreciated.
I've been running the truck for about two months and really like it. Right off the bat I ordered the tuning kit, spring kit (F & R) and the piston kit. I'm running Aaron Lanes setup and the truck is competitive wherever I go. I do like the mip kit, but wasn't aware of it before I bought the above items. Non the less, I'm very happy with my choice and will run it as is until the chassis wears out.

But its just not right when the people involved know it already has issues and do nothing about it.

i have had my scte for over a year an im still using the stock rear tower and thats racing and practicing every weekend. you dont need to go and replace them right away. i understand they can bend but u can take them off and bend them back and they are as good as new. i dont think any part of this car has to be replaced right away. there are many people that win races with box stock scte's

Sure, you can bend the stock tower back, but, unless you have some special way of doing it, you will have to take lot of things off. This takes time and does take a toll on your screws (if you do it often).

Also, running with a bend tower will impact your suspension.

It does not take alot to bend the stock tower. I would highly recommend getting at least the rear CF tower as one of the first upgrades and never worry about it again.

i agree with you. its a lot of work to take it off but it can be done to save money and to keep u from having to buy parts right off the bat. in the year i owned my scte i have only bent it once. i guess its all about how u drive if u cant keep it on the wheels then you are deff going to be bending it more often

Default ofna diff ?

I recenlty purchased the ofna diff gears and pins and the kyosho shims as reccomended. Can someone please help me with what to do to use them. It looks like i have to modify the pins to get them to fit in the diff housing. And where exactly do i use to kyosho shims in the assembly. Does this modification just help with strength or does it also help with drivability. Thanks
