Question on batteries with this car. I use a Tekin RX8 and pro 4 4600 and this thing continues to just batter my batteries. I was using gens ace 5000 40 c, definitely puffed one so i was hessitant to use it again. Tried a thunderpower 5300 65c, and when i pulled it off tHe track the battery looked like it bun coming out of an over, ot was puffed. It shrank down again after it cooled but it was a little worrying.

I mostly use nano tech 6600 65c batteries is the car and they are ok but even still the car manages to puff them pretty good too, not nearly as much as the others but enough for me to notice the nice clean flat surfaces of the hard cases are now no longer perfectly flat but sightly rounded.

Is it just this car and motor speedy combo or something? Running a 14 tooth pinion with punch control down at 60 percent. The track is very loose so i am rarely on full throttle except the main straight. Motor and speedy are coming off nice and cool, didnt have temp gun on me at the time but you could easily hold your hand on the motor and the speedy wouldnt have been anywhere close to 100f.

Also, on a track with a fairly loose surface whats the best tire to go for? I was looking at aka enduros, aka being the easier tire to get the hold of.

Make sure you timing is 0, break at 50 % no push do drag break, current at 60 % and gridirons and enduros with the right compounds are good tires for loose sandy conditions, temps have a lot to do with battery discharge. solder joints bad can cause over heat issues on battery

You prob need better connectors or should re- do your wiring , maybe you have a bad/cold solder joint

Likely something having to do with resistance or tranny bound up. Maybe a bad bearing somewhere causing too much drag. That motor speedo combo is very popular. I run it w/ venom 5000 40c's, nanotech 6600 65c, reedy 6500 65c & never puffed any of them---running a 14 tooth.

I've even run the truck with a tenshock sc411 4600 on a large high bite track with a 15 tooth with no issues.

My problem is that I can't keep the temps down in my motor, currently running the Novak Havoc Pro SC + LRP X12L 5.5 motor, I had the novak 4.5 hv but it went out due to heat issues, I just installed the LRP and same deal, same high temps as the novak.

I started having these kind of problems with my electronics as soon as I moved to the SCTE, I had the novak setup for a complete year in a Hyper 10sc and not a single time the motor overheated. I bought the SCTE in May and I just can't figure it out, I swapped pinion gears ranging from 12 up to 15 with no effect whatsoever, always running at around 190-210, I tried different heat sinks, fans and nothing seems to help at all.

Again, problem started when I switched to Losi, it's the race roller and it's completely stock.

Any advice and suggestions are welcome, thanks!
From what I've seen that motor tends to run warmer period. I just do not believe it is a good motor for this truck, especially in stock form. When Ifirst got my SCTE it weighed 6lbs, 11.5 ounces. It was fine with a rx8 & the 3800 from castle & the tekin 4600 but i believe it may be a bit much for your electronics.

Of course some people may disagree.--Just my opinion.

First I would check you to make sure you don't have any binding that would cause extra battery draw. Sounds like if your temps are ok, then that might not be it. The other thing I would do is make sure you have high output plugs and replace them if they are worn. Personally I avoid bird-cage type bullet connectors, some have problems with them and some don't, personally though I have had issues with them. If you are using something like a Deans connector to your ESC, I would even go as far as to replace those, just to make sure you are getting good contact everywhere.

If you think your solders connections are questionable at all especially at the RX8 esc posts, redo them too. Lastly, If you have longer wires from either the esc to motor, or esc to battery, try shortening them up a bit.

I was having the same problemwith my batteries.. I was using a protek 5300 65 c and the battery puffed a little and was a little warm after my first qual this week. I switched to my reedy 6500 65 c batt and the battery was fine.. it may be the ampdraw your experienceing and your electronics may be pulling a buttload from your batteries.. my protek is capable of 344 while the reedy was capable of delivering 422.

Anyone have the part number for the washers that go under the center of the chassis? Two for the screws that go into the batter tray and one for the screw that goes into the plastic piece the motor sits on. They center the screws in the oval holes. Thanks!
