Any limiter used on the ESC or just keeping at max? Timing?
i'd start with a 16T. i run my CL at 85% and timing at 10 (which i think is like 4 degrees on the RX8).

What motor are you using and kv rating with the HW?

Should i go with a 4000kv or 4600kv if i get any of the above..pry be the MMP or HW 150a if im gonna do it?

Whats the diff between the xerun 150 and the exrun pro 150 amp or why would one be than the other with the tenshock motor? Thanks

i would stay away from the 150A XERun if you're going to be using 2S. the hobbywing SCT-PRO is a better choice for 2S.

awesome....with this esc and heavy truck 4000kv or 4600kv in the sc411 motor? i know your the tenshock guy so thats why im asking you, lol! Or i guess what kv do you suggest as im not good with all the technicality stuff of motor esc but i can break the car down and work on it, rebuild whatever but this stuff is kinda confusing and i'd rather ask someone WHO KNOWS rather than someone who MIGHT now

i like the 4600. the 5200 is also a beast. but especially if you haven't done any lightening, i'd go for the 4600. i've run it as high as a 16T pinion (did that last night) and it stays cool enough (i didn't temp it after the run, but i was at 130 with a 15T after a 5 minute qual).

It was doggy till I got the 16t in it.. so I agree tell most to start right at 16t for sure... I'm at 95% limiter right now, and 25 timing. I have no idea what temps I'll pull racing but messing around it was 140's. I'll see how it goes tomorrow at the track and really dial it in.

Turned my limiter down to 55 and the truck felt awesome. Hardley any wheel spin what so ever. I was able to power out of the turns without the truck breaking loose which was really nice. Stayed with a 13t pinion and temps where great 140ish after 8 min. Truck was super dialed. Actually my mod SC was too. Still need to work on the buggy.

so what exactly does the timing do? i kno, go ahead and laugh..i understand the limiter but timing throws me off as to what it will do, whatever esc i get i will be buying the program card with it just so i dont always have to have my laptop but always nice to know what the timing is all about

Bought the RPM rear bumper and # plate through RPM as my LHS says their supplier says 6/20 and i just got done waiting it 5/15 or something and thought it would have been there by yesterday and he said, it still says backordered but til 6/20 so i told him i'll go through rpm just so i can get my truck back up and running. I went this route since noticing that while converting that the stock bumper/mud flaps only cover about 1/2 the tire so i think the angle might help cover up alittle more but we will see how i like it

Default Gearing question

I'm running a Tekin SCX 4.5 motor with a 13 tooth pinion and a Hobbywing SCT Pro esc in my scte. I ran a 12 minute moto around my track and my motor temped at 190 and esc at 140. Esc seems fine at that temp but thats pretty hot for the motor I would think. Should I drop down to a 12 tooth pinion? I'm not running a fan or heat sink on the motor right now.

I run a rx8/pro4 4600 no fan,13t pinion,10 timing, limiter at 55 and temps were great after 8 min main. Does'nt HW software have a punch control? I would turn it down a little and your temps should come down.

yes, it is programmable and here is the chart as they show it on their website...

would the sc411 in a 4000kv for $75 shipped be a decent offer...someone bought it and didnt like it and thats the price and said he has receipt saying he got it the 18th?

Or should i stick to the 4600kv for $90 new?

Stick with the 4600 its your best bet for this truck. Lower item 4 Punch down to 4 and see how your temps are.

My punch control is already on 0. I put on a heat sink a little bit ago, I'll see how it goes tomorrow.

I was running a 12 tooth in my truck with punch control set to 5 and my timing to 1 (lowest setting) and had temps from 150-170. I was also using a castle fan on the motor.
My esc lvc was set to 3.4 volts per cell and it cuts off my battery at around 3.6. What gives?
