Losi 1/10 TEN-SCTE ARR 4x4 Short Course Truck Thread
I've never tried the xerun 4 pole motors but don't rule out the tenshock SC411 motors. They're about the same price if not cheaper and I have the 4600kv , its a monster. Love it.

Or is this good combo choice= http://www.hobbywing.com/product_show.asp?id=275 It is intended 1/8 scale cars but Scte is 1/8 Or is there black one which is intended to 1/10.
The Tenshock is a longer can 550 too and known for running a bit cooler and having a little more low end. Wonder if the Hobbywing 4000 or 4700 will run into heat issues like the Pro4 4600??

Thinking about trying that body a couple of pages back anyone running it?
I've been running the Hobbyking 120 amp sensored esc with tekin sc4x with 12 tooth pinion and my truck is just as fast as any of the trucks running rx8 with pro4. After 10 min esc is about 100 degrees and motor is about 150 and i run on a huge outdoor 1/8 track. Never have any problems clearing any triples no matter how big. I love when people come up to me to see what I am running after i just spanked them and I tell them I have a $50 esc. The Hobbyking escs are great if you can get one when they are in stock.

I had the rx8/pro4 combo, it ran a bit hot...
Now I run a hw sc8 and tenshock sc401 4000kv, seem faster and cooler than my old tekin setup, not to mention much more torque and 2xs cheaper.

agreed! the SCT Pro esc is sweet, i love it in my SCTE i run it with a 5200kv Tenshock SC411 and its a beast....i have it geared with a 15T too keep temps in a good range... Handles 1/8 track no issues...runs through a double/tripple/double like butter!!!

Will a 4000kv generally run cooler than a 4600-4700?

Ok thanks. Looks like I will be going with a 4000kv motor. I don't run on any big really fast tracks so I don't need the extra power of a bigger motor I don't think.
I run the 4000kv version and its never been above 145. Its faster then the 4600 also. I beat the nitro truggies and buggies down the large 8th straight.

Guys the 4600kv if a faster motor than the 4000kv. It's simple math. If however you're not setting up your motors properly with gearing, car setup, esc settings etc your lap times will not reflect this.
I've been seeing far too many guys running one tooth too tall for the track. While this may not seem like a big deal it really is. If you're making faster laps with a 14T over a 13T you need to ask yourself is it due to the actual top end of the car or is it the fact it smooths/mellows out the bottom end. If it's the latter drop to a 13T and use the current limiter to match the "feel" of the punch. I sat down with two of our fastest 4wd SC Losi drivers at our home track both running on a short 5400 sq ft track using 14Ts. Both were running around the 180-200 range running their "fastest laps." After dropping to a 13T and me adjusting their current limiter both dropped .2-.4 off of their previous fastest times.....
Smooth is fast. Wasted wheel spin looks cool but does nothing for lap times. Wheel spin creates a lot of heat in the motor.
