Damn, I'm running full 5000mah 2s packs through my MMP/1415 combo and coming off at 125-130ish motor/90-95 esc. Geared 40/16.

40/18 doesn't bother it either during 5 minute qualifying/main races and it goes like a raped ape. Can't wait til my 3s packs show up....

thats because your running a low kv motor, that motor is only 2400 and made for a 3s, everyone is running around 4000-5000 kv motors so we have to run 2s and if you race you need a 2s, well the races I go to thats all we can run

Something that just connects to the 4 holes from the bottom of the f/r bulkhead.
Thanks for the pics b121774.
this is my temporary fix to my rear bumper until RPM comes up with a beefier bumper for Losi TEN SCTE

Why would the motor be cool if you were over geared? If the motor is cool and the lipo's and esc are hot you have too low of a 'c' rated packs, bad connections or an ESC under rated for the job or all of the above. I guess if you didn't run long (not even a full heat) and you really pushed the overgearing to an extreme you may see the effects on your controller and batts being hot first but that is a pretty extreme case of overgearing.

Hot motor, hot controller, hot batteries = overgeared (with out other system issues in place)

Temps similar on all components (warmer is best) means you have a happy medium as you noted, and agree w/ undergear too

Well my CC1410 motor (3800kv) is a real power house, smaller and has as much power as the 4.5s at my track and runs 130* after 6 minute heats geared with a 15 tooth. And I am putting back 2800mah back in my packs.

All these problems with heat and running hot, my castle products do not.

We're running two scte's, one with Rx8/sc4x 4.5 and the other an Lrp spx8 and sc4x 4.5. Both are geared 16/40. The Lrp came off after about 10 min motor temp at 160 (5400mah battery), the Rx8 which was using a 8000mah came off after almost 20 min at 162 (small track 50' straight). It was running just over 110 about 10 min in. I have the esc set at I think it's 3/4 on the current limit (not using hotwire only quikset). Put 4994mah back into the 8000 pack.

On the Novaks you can adjust timing on the can dont no about Tekin I would set it on 0 ,imo you dont need timing on these motors.

Yeah, it is ridiculous...but its worth not having to hang it up for half the season after dropping $600 on a truck. I saw something about contacting Horizon and letting them know we got the bad shafts....does that mean they will send us the new ones for free? If so, what do we need to provide them for proof of purchase?

In the past dealing with Horizon...my word was all they needed for proof. How many people are gonna call and ask for pins that doesnt own the truck? I bet if they have them they send them out the same day you call...Im gonna call today and hopefully they are in the mail so I can race this wekend.

me either, indoor carpet, ran about 10 mins or so on a 5300/65c pack thur mmpsc/1415 fan didn't even come on on the esc, battery was lil warm, motor lil warm, I do the finger test, and when I fingered it, I could keep my hand on everthing long as I wanted to,, not very hot at all. I run 19/40 gearing and anyone know anything about carpet racing and s compound tires know those two don't like each other, espiecally with knobs. I had the truck pulling some really cool drifts, just like a drift car. I figure that didn't help my already weak diff pins. gotta wait till I get new set of pins before I get to test it again.

knows anyone know if the metal gears from other kit would work on this rig (1/8 Losi) or if they are even the same pitch as mod 1

I noticed the center drive shaft have a little wobble in them also. When I was breaking in my diffs I noticed that they were just a little off from being perfectly straight. Not too bad really but I just hope the little bit of added vibration doesn't transfer into faster wear on other components. Still amazed at this thing. I would say I ran my 3s 5000 mah pack for over 10 mins last night temps were under 120 on a 20t on my castle 1512, mmp fan also wasn't even running. I had to do some minor modifications to get motor to fit, but IMO well worth it, plenty of power and pretty smooth IMO. I will say it still doesn't pop wheelies but I'm a racer and don't really care anyways. I bet If I would running a nice 4s in it it would though. My 3s is a cheap 20c so it might not push it that well either who knows. I haven't put my GPS on the truck yet but I'm going to say top speed is in the 37 to 40 mph neighborhood. I was catching up to cars like they were standing still on my street which is 25 mph.

I called Sat. and yes they are going to replace them......told me June, so I don't know if they re getting them sooner and just don't know exact date. I'm going to make some from hardened alloy steel. I just don't know how the 1mm shorter SC10 pins will hold up and if they fail how bad the damage will be. I figure I'd wait and put the appropriate size in. On a good note a box of 50 pins are $8 and just need the notch. If things go well the boys @ Proving Grounds in Jenison Michigan will be set by next week........
