For the SCTE I'd stick with the RX8 and 4600kv motor..I've run the MMP with a 550 5.5 (4000kv) Tekin motor, Novak havoc pro with a 4.5 550 (13mm), Toro 120amp SC with a 550 4600kv 4 pole motor..and the best of all of them has been the RX-8 4600kv combo..so I'll stick with what works..and I'm sure the hobby king stuff is great but I'll stick with what I know works for me..

On the first truck I bought I started with the MMP/3800. Eventually upgrading to the RX8/pro4 4600. This second go around with the truck I went with the RX8/Pro4 4000. Ran it for the first time Sunday and it had great power with a 15t pinion. After 6mins temped in the mid 150's. I think i'm gonna drop a tooth for next week. I know 150's are ok but I like to play it safe.

I'm running a hobbywing sc8 with the 1410 geared 18t pinion. Main was 7 min and I used about 4800 mah.

I TQ'd and won the money race last sat.

Nothing wrong with their speed controllers actually, pretty much all the brand x controlers are good..I just trust the RX8 & motors more with the SCTE is all..no need to be a d*ck about it..

Just go down to the buy and sell thread on rctech, I bought a like new RX8 with warranty and an extra fan for 155. I also just bought a pro4 4600 motor with a new front bearing, a new 90 day warranty for.....100.00
I mean really why buy new??, find a good seller and never look back. I really have now motivation to buy anything new.

That said Im a little sad I didn't get to buy a Tenshock sc411 but I figure at the price I paid for my Pro4 if I don't like shouldn't take me too long to re sell it.
That said will my 5000mah 40c Losi Exceleron Lipo's hold up to the Pro4???
I think I need to invest in some new high C batteries...wish hobbyfartz.com could have stock in, haven't seen a 50c gens ace in stock for about 3 months.

Castle MMPs seem to be hit or miss with their built in BEC. Some work great, some not so much. I had all sorts of glitching issues until I threw capacitors at the one I had. Others install an external BEC. However, if you're buying it paired with the MMP already it seems safe to say that the glitching issues have been resolve by one method or another.

As long as the truck is a good price you should do just fine. If you decide to part out the MMP and Novak later in favor of other hardware, then you should get close to your initial investment for those since youre (A) already buying it used and (B) buying a combination deal.
Thanks for the help/information I just got home with my new truck tonight....can't wait for tomorrow...lol

My bad, I assumed incorrectly. Some people equate hobbyking to Xerun.
My bad

Now I have a broken side guard, body and the new motor has a nice scratch right in the middle. Can't imagine it being any better with the motor sticking out.
i think motor angle wouldnt matter with a hit like that.

YEP. We cut out the front windshield at the bottom there are about 7 holes. Cut out the fans in the rear bead and I also cutout the 4 large circles in the very rear of the body.

Im going to try a pro4 4600 with the mmp combined with the cc pro bec. Using a 15t pinion on the stock rtr setup getting temps around 130-140. Would that be a good starting point on the pro4?

If its a big track I would start out at 14t. If its small than 13t.

I know this had been asked, but my search isn't working. What does it mean on the setups sheets when says "2 turns out" on the droop/limiter.
