I just picked up a Losi scte and love the way it handles after just a few setup changes but need some help in the motor department I ran a couple practice runs and temps were good with my 5.5 novak but the pace needed for my race last night it just did not have the torque I was looking for it seemed to be a bit week on punch in the mid range. I was able to get the win last night but it was way too close for my likings so today I put in my tekin 5.5 and did a few test runs and the power was better but my temps were high and caused the esc to cut the timing advance I believe. I am running the mmp in smart sense mode with timing at 20 geared with 14 tooth pinion I tried a 15 first and motor ran 203 so I dropped to a 14 wich ran 150 the next run wich was fine power was smooth and strong but the next pack I ran the motor seemed to loose power around 7-8 min in so I pulled over after a minute or so and motor temped 195+ so I am looking for advice. I have a race tomorrow and my plan is to eliminate the timing on the esc to 0 and go back to the 15 tooth pinion but I would like to hear what others suggest so please let me know what you have done running this motor or similar to it.

Some ppl forget that the 1/8th esc's are still relatively new and of course they will have problems at first. Ive had one bad RX8 in the past 1 1/2 years since switching from a MMP which I had to roll with two MMP's and castle bec's cause they are garbage and sent them back on a monthly basis. Tekin or nothing in my ride.... nuff said.

How much do you think it will hinder my performance with my wires like they are? Should I shorten them? If there isn't that much difference i'm just gonna run it till the wheels fall off.

Well. After 2 week of waiting for parts through my LHS, I finally finished my Losi. I bought this rolling chassis used for $200 with tires/rims ( The guy gave me $200 in tires/rims alone ). So I practically got the rolling chassis for free. It looked pretty good when I got it, but upon further inspection, the losi was gonna need alot of TLC. Rebuilt the diffs and used 5/5/3 for a baseline. Changed out the differential pins provided by Chris Atteberry. I figured since I was doing a total rebuild, I might as well buy all the parts ( and then some ) since I knew that I was gonna purchased them in the future. Im having a body painted by my local painter ( Ryan Sagisi ). Here's some pics I took 10 minutes ago. Enjoy.

I would get a new rear bumper for that beast! I don't know why but I just like the mud flaps on the back! Thats why I got a different 2wd SCT, the Kyosho doesn't have mud flaps!

Now I have 2 trucks with 'em!

I thought I would just post a picture up of my SCTE that I picked up yesterday. I am happy how it came out considering my lack of skill when it comes to paint and applying decals.

Now just need to get some electrics and happy days.

Texted Steve tonight on your behalf to make sure he got it and he did. So if he didn't already respond, he will be in the very near future

Wires are definitely a little long, but them being long isn't going to hurt your performance or anything. Good Job!

Nice clean wiring job. BTW, who makes those slicks? I've thought about getting some onroad slicks for when they go blue groove at my local track just to see how they work.

I agree, the mudflaps do look good, but unfortunately they also aid in the destruction of a body. Most people cut down the bumpers to save the bodies as well as the little bit of weight. I suppose if you really want the mudflaps but not have them affect the body, you could use the RPM mudflaps for the Slash 4x4 and mod them to work somehow.

Default LIPO DISCHARGE

I HAVE A HYPERION EOSO606I CHARGER AND IT HAS A FUNCTION CALLED LIPO DISCHARGE HAS ANYONE EXPERIMENTED OR USED THIS FUNCTION ON ANY OF YOUR CHARGERS REGARDLESS OF BRAND. I AM CURIOUS TO WHY I WOULD NEED TO DISCHARGE MY LIPOS. I NORMALLY USE THE STORE MODE WHEN I PLAN ON STORING MY LIPOS FOR SEVERAL WEEKS AT A TIME. DO YOU GAIN ANY PERFORMANCE ADVANTAGE BY DISCHARGING YOUR LIPOS AND THEN CHARGING TO FULL CAPACITY? ALSO IT SEEMS AS THOUGH THIS CHARGER BALANCES THE CELLS WHILE ALSO DISCHARGING AT THE SAME TIME?

YOU GOT NOTHING TO WORRY ABOUT. I DONT THINK IT WOULD MAKE ANY NOTICEABLE DIFFERENCE BY ANY MEANS. I JUST LIKE TO CONSERVE, 12AWG CAN GET KINDA PRICEY. ITS TOTALLY YOUR PREFERENCE. ASSUMING ALL YOUR JOINTS ARE NICE AND SHINY. YOUR WIRING LOOKS GOOD MAN!
