My truck handled well out of the box, but it's time to make it better. I pulled it down to the bare chassis last night to freshen up the diffs and check everything out. The front diff case was very full of a clear-ish grease but the rear diff only had a little. Is this grease that has leaked out of the diff or did they over-lubricate the front ring gear from the factory?

I did soak mine in hot dishwashing liquid filled water, still took forever.

I had to scrub them with an old toothbrush

Dish soap will only work on petroleum based oils/grease , the silicone based oil/grease that we use needs some kind of solvent to break it down .

The problem with solvents is most give off harmful fumes so you have to clean the parts in a well ventilated area .

Which aluminium servo horn is everyone using? I ordered this one last night since I was already making an order. Did I make a mistake? Are the clamp style ones superior?

I'm not worried about the tooth count, from what I can see the JR horn will work on my Spektrum 6040.

I use the JR horns , mainly because the LHS I go too sells it the cheapest out of the horns they stock , that horn you got looks ok but if it has a plastic insert in it its gonna wear/strip over time . JR makes the servos for Spektrum so yes the JR horns will fit the Spektrum servos .

I can tell you the motor in the truck works great on 2s and thats geared at an 18. It outperformed the 3800 motor on the track and temp wise. I did try the 2400kv 1415 as well and it was not fast enough in my opinion. I know you can put this RTR down on the track and be competitive and that includes in speed. I did have to consider people would want to put 3s in this and that is also why we went with this, although I would recommend gearing down. But calculating RPM's based on Kv is not always very accurate and not always a true indicator of speed. I know it does hold value though but in this case, the motor does very well.

The spektrum servos have the same spline count as the JR and were originally made by JR but have not been for some time now...just for trivia knowledge.

Go to the page for the SCTE roller and there's a checkbox at the bottom to include the Bump chassis.

After the first race with the SCTE I took the diffs apart to see how the internals held (a bit disappointed since after 6 10min heats even the replacement pins were worn 1-2 tenths of a mm and on of the sun gears had chipped a tooth, as if it had a mold problem; the pins were from the EU distributor and visibly different from the original , I hope horizon EU will take care of these issues as well as Ryan&co does in US) My problem is that to get the front diff out I had to take out 14 screws and it feels a bit too many.
What is the best method to reach the diff more easily?

1-2 tenths of a mm ?? You mixed fractions and metric in that LOL No easy way around it! You are the Driver and the Crew chief and the Mechanic, just use very good hex drivers or a power driver!!
