Help needed to go racing

I am new to the hobby and just bought a new car. I would like to get into racing but I know my car would need to be upgraded. Can you guys suggest what I would need to upgrade first.

What vehicle do you have/plan on racing?

Please provide specifics on current platform and intentions of which class you're interested in racing.

well I just bought the Tamiya Hornet and I would guess the class that I would race would be a beginner class. Like I said, I am new to the Hobby and dont know much about it.

Don't spend time hopping up a hornet. Have fun, and go race :)

If you plan to race the best way to learn is to go to the track on a race day and talk to other racers.

Just go to the track and get a few practice sessions under your belt. Learn the track and the car. Then if you want to race enter the novice class, sometimes called sportsman class. This is basically a beginners class and will usually consist of alot of diffrent types of rc cars and trucks. If you like it, rather than upgrading the Hornet (which is an old school 30 year old design that was re-released) I would suggest getting something from Team Associated, Losi, or Traxxas depending on the class you want to run.

Right now Short Course trucks are all the rage. The most popular begginers truck is the Traxxas Slash. I personally prefer the Team Associated SC10 which is also available in a ready to run kit (RTR). Depending on your budget and funds I would maybe pick up a new ready to run kit, or check the for sale section here and get a good deal on a slightly used set up.

Save up and get a better car like a slash...it would be kinda pointless to upgrade a hornet even if you did it wouldn't be able to keep up with a b4 or a xxx cr
