No, it will not.

I did a lot of and saw a lot of searching for this answer with no one specifically trying it and giving a response.

@FTSC10

People (including myself) were wondering, since it can run some sensored motors sensorless (fast ones 8.5t etc.)

It should work. A sensored motor doesnt require the sensor wire to work.

Granted it's not a Sidewinder, but I have ran a sensored 17.5 motor on the regular Mamba Max. The only issue I had was from a standstill, it would cog. Once it was going, as in the car was moving, there was no problem & it ran fine.

Wether it works or not heavily depends on how accurate the controller is.

i myself have quite a bunch of controller, so i've done many test's.

A Hobbywing Xerun 120 wont run a 17.5 without sensor.
A GM 75 wont do that either.
A Mamba max wont.

Then my Quark Plasma however does get a 17.5 going smooth without the sensor.

It appears that all controller that will run sensorless will run sensor motor's as long as they are somewhat faster, 10.5 and lower shouldn't be a problem.

FDR however has big effects too, the taller the car is geared the harder the motor is going to be to start.

the slower winds like 17.5 dont rev much at all and have not much EMF feedback for the controller to read out.

going slow with no sensor thus requires the ultimate software, wich AFAIK only Quark has.

had issues running a sensored 17.5 tekin with a dynamite fuze esc last night. Major cogging and sloooooooooow. I basically had to get the truck moving at half throttle, then I could apply more. Thankfully a gtb is on the way, and this was only a test run.

Its not BS, it's the controller not the motor. my Quark doesn't take sensor, yet runs 17.5 flawless.

Yeah, it's controller dependent for sure. Though you see a lot of "sensorless esc's will run sensored motors" talk bandied about, it's really not as simple as that, I've found.

Why is this discussion even being had? seriously..

a sensored motor was built for, and designed to be ran SENSORED..you will obviously see lackluster results from using a sensored motor on an unsensored ESC...IF it even works at all, which in my experience..they never do.

BUY a sensored ESC!

I think what most people including me now are saying BUY A SENSORED ESC AND GET IT OVERWITH.I do not know why this thread is still here,it should be deleted. It is just common sense, sensored motor=sensored esc.
