Default HELP! I think I got a bad MMP!

Well my MMP came in the mail today and I was so exited I stopped hanging out with my friends just to try and test it out. Well I got home soldered on some TRX plugs, soldered some 4mm plugs to my motor and hooked it up. And then... UH OH..

I calibrated it to my tx, it armed, beeped 3 times (I'm using a 3s). Seems like it's good to go right? Not exactly. I'm using a 550 5.5 ballistic Sensored motor and what happens? Cogging? What the heck?!?!

When I hit the throttle the motor violently stutters back and forth and when I hit reverse it goes very slowly forward. Not only does it nOt go forwards but it's getting really hot! Oh wow the fans on! IS THAT SMOKE?!?!? what's happening!

It let out a little trickle of smoke so I immediately turned it off. I let it cool down and decided to maybe try again. Same thing!

Did I get a bad MMP? it seems like the sensor wire isn't working but it's brand new! Also when it does the "cogging stutter" one of the motor wires "jumps" like all of a sudden there's a huge amount of current going through it or something.

Has this ever happened to anyone? I'm freaking out here!

I'm going to guess he didn't have the ABC motor wires in the correct order. I did that the first time I used a sensored motor with my MMP. Not like sensorless where you can just connect them in any order.

That, or maybe had it in brushed mode?

I have had quite a few problems and it all goes back to the BEC. Put a glitch capacitor on it or buy the external bec.

I have had that problem with the BEC too, but to me the BEC issue seems more to cause steering glitch issues and power brown-outs on the RX, when a servo is drawing too much current for the BEC to handle.

You might have to run a cap on the receiver to eliminate the glitching prioblem.

thats exactly correct. i had been using a novak havoc, and the position of the ABC wires on the novak were opposite from the MMP. easily fixed and running great! thanks guys
