Default roar 96 silver can motor

I came across a few silver can motors the other day and was wanting to
find out some info. They have Roar 96 on the end of the can.
They dont have screws holding the can to the end cap. (like most do)
they have bent tabs!
Were these hand out motors or something ?
How do you pry the tab back without messing up the brush slot ?

Seems like they are hand-out stock motors for either a national level race or regional race. They are difficult to open and usually end up bending or distorting the brush hoods. This day and age they would make a great paper weight.

Default Removing endbell

Take the motor in your hand and tap the end of the motor shaft against a table .
This will force the endbell off the can and allow you to reinstall after maintenance...

I managed to pry the tabs back and open up the motor,
It was pretty dirty. I cleaned it out and threw in some brushes
and pushed the tabs most of the way back down.
It ran great!
