No...
2650/3s (short run time)
1900/4s
1700/5s
1400/6s

If your running an RX8 you could drop a motor in each and run a timing profile possibly.

If he has the ballistic 550 motor he can just purchase the 1850kv stator from novak and use 4s. He will have to pick up a castle creations BEC also to use 4s on his Novak ESC.

i understand that by swaping the stator the motor would become a new motor that is rated for 4s. i get the part about not putting 14.8v to the reciver, but how can you run a 2s esc on 4s and not burn it down?????

I also put the aluminum skid plates and servo saver on the buggy before I ran it. No problems at all with those. But I do agree that it's not the most durable buggy. I've had to replace a few parts and I just starting racing it in the beginning of the summer. Overall it's a great buggy though.

Default set up

The car i own now is a hyper 10sc, and i'm running a mamba max pro in it. I bought the pro because (thinking for the future) it goes up to 6s, so when maybe i get an 1/8th scale i will save some cash getting a of the electronics.(since as everybody knows 1/8th scale cost is that much more).

I really want to run the tekin rx8 motor with my pro. Now that I really want this buggy do you think i should run it with the tekin rx8 in the ve8? Or do you think i should just get the rx8 combo. If you think I should get the whole combo, why.

thanks

It's very simple. All you have to do is use an external BEC that is capable of the voltage you want to run. I use the Castle Creations UBEC (universal b.e.c.) and it allows me to run up to 6s on my LRP sphere comp TC spec. This esc is normally rated for 2s lipo usage.

Here is how to wire it up. Very simple

What pinion? I use a 17t now. What affordable motor.

What is your definition of affordable? What type of batteries do you intend on using?

4S Lipos 30C. I use the Turnigy 30C 4500mah 14.8v Lipos. 17T Pinion. Stock spur (50t???) and affordable is about 100. I would like to keep my ESC I want lower KV. I want to see if it's worth it and the benefits if available on a 80amp esc.

4s lipo is really best when used with a motor in the range of 1900-2400kv ratings.

In your case I would reccomend a castle 2200kv, or a tekin 1900kv. If you want the tekin, you will have to watch for a used one to pop up on the for sale threads. If you choose to buy a new one, be prepared to part with some serious change.

another motor to consider is the hobbywing 2050 kv motor.

I have run both the tekin rx8 and mmp and now that tekin has worked out it's bugs, I am all tekin. Tom2tone I believe runs a mmp. I have burned up two mmp's so I come to my own conclusion that they were really designed for 1/10. I know alot of people buy them because of that 6s thing, but I am beginning to believe that is nothing more than a sales pitch just like C ratings on lipo batteries.

I have burned two up. One running a novak 4.5 550 motor in a jammin scrt10 and one running a tekin 1900 in a hot boides ve8. I also have friends that have cooked theirs in their 1/8 scale buggies also. The warranty service is good, but that does not help you finish races. Like others have said, install the glitch capacitor or BEC and that should solve your cogging issues. I just do not think it was made to take the abuse and power of the 1/8 scale 4s systems. I also have run them on 2s in my touring cars though without issue.
