i've read on the tekin thread where the team drivers are now moving to the 1700 buggy motor for 4s and using the rx8's adjustable timing software settings to get speed on the straights as well as keep a very usable low end for the infield. as an added benifit your runtime will increase too

Good Luck....
14 of the 15 RX8's that I've seen fail were the 3 hole case
& of the 3 that I watched go up in flames, all were the 3 hole.
That said... I know a Lot of people Love the RX8 and are using them with No Problems.....
The RS is another story & as reliable as can be... As long as its used in the correct application, I hope your not planning on using the one you got in a 1/8 buggy
I'll stick with my Monster.

What gearing do you guys recommend starting with using the 1900kv? I am running 15/46 on 4S with the MM/2200kv. Thanks for the help!

RX8/1900KV Combo
[QUOTE=Matt2979;8273491]I'm ready to get into 1/8 electric off-road and I don't want to just buy something without REALLY looking into all of my options (unlike how I jumped into Nitro!).
I've already got a great conversion kit for one of my MBX5 buggies. What I'm really looking for advice on is the esc/motor. I'm leaning towards the Tekin RX8/1900KV. My budget is really not a concern. I already know how much this hobby costs and I just want to get a great set-up right off the bat.
Looking forward to some great suggestions!![/QUOTE
The RX8/1900KV is what I have in my Kyosho MP9E, and I love it. The Tekin hotwire is a very nice feature. And even if you don't have hotwire the RX8 is still very easy to program manually. I like the 1900KV motor because it is faster then most cars down the straightaway and still has the torque to hit the big jumps. In my opinion it is A very fast and reliable combo.

Yeah, I'm definitely looking forward to getting mine! I already got the Hot Wire to go along with my RS system so I know that's going to be a HUGE plus. And, for the guy concerned about my using the RS in my Mugen MBX5, no worries. If I was going to be stupid about how I do this, I would have never bothered asking for some personal experiences from owners.
