Castle sidewinder setups any good for racing?

Are they any good? I ask because They are sensorless. I'm looking for a 10.5t motor and needed to know which KV castle motor is comparable to that.

They will do fine for racing. Being sensorless the low end will not be quite as smooth as sensored but not a big diffrence.

CC 4600kv is almost the same as a 10.5 on the track.

I have a sidewinder in an sc10 and it is great. I bought it in a combo with the 4600 motor. Even with the punch on the lowest setting it too much for motor for me. I am running a Reedy 3300 with it right now and it is about right. I have heard people complain that the Reedy motor is not that great...but when hooked to a Sidewinder...it is a great setup.

I noticed there is a mamba max esc/motor setup for a few bux more. Which one should I get?

all I race is sidewinders, I have a 5700kv in my sc10(which I coincidentally took 2'nd place in my local tracks end of season race), and a 4600kv in my b4.1. and castle stands behind their stuff, I had one esc come apart and something broke off the circuit board, sent it back to them, and they sent me a brand new one. then had another one have the negative battery wire break, sent it back to them and got another brand new one, I love castle creations!!!

4600 is more like a weak 8.5, its a great unit for price. i got beat by 1 2wks ago.

If its for a buggy a 4600 is plenty and for a truck then the 4600 or 5700 is more than enough. They are smooth enough to race with. I ran a 4600 with a prototype Sidewinder for over a year and it was plenty smooth. This is when everyone said sensored was way smoother. I use to let guys try my setup and they complained it was too smooth.

Its like anything else as you just need to mess with the setup some to you get the feel you want. If you are planning on using the Castle Link to adjust it then you really can dial them in to get the feel your looking for.

Thanks guys. Im gonna pick one up for the buggy. I have a castle link for my MMP esc already so I think I'm good.
