Transponders
Our club has been looking into buying a transponder.
We're looking for something a little more compact that we have found. Does anyone know of a transponder system that works on a laptop (with little other equipment) I was hoping to find a system that would let use your supplied or personal transponders, and would require only a loop and doggle which lets the computer do the decoding and work...but at the same time keep the price down to around the $1000 mark at most.
Any help would be great...thanks.

They can be found in the australian racing, Castle hill offroad thread.
We run personals and handouts every club meeting. Complete with sound etc. From a laptop.
Sorry I am not 100% sure so I won't say brands etc. But any of those guys will be able to point you in the right direction.
We have a loop allways in the ground. And just plug in come race day.
Hope this helps. Our leads to it.

The most common ones I've seen are AMB and R/C Scoring Pro. They both seem to work pretty good.

I think ours is amb.
And I think we are running on xp.

How is the stability of RC Scoring pro? does it crash as often as J-Lap?

I have been using R/C scoring pro for 5 weeks I have had NO problems with crashing. Ive seen jlap in action and it does strange things on resorts and it crashes.

AMB is right now the only one making a transponder system for RC (I think), but other company's have software to work with their systems
If you want to keep it under a 1000, you are probebly looking at a 2nd hand system. I don't think there are many AMBrc (with the Red and personal transponder) systems right now 2nd hand (and they will still be over a 1000 probebly).
But if the bigger clubs are stepping up to that you can probebly get their old AMB20 system (black transponders, NO personal transponders) for a decent price. Both can work from a laptop as long you dont have a really old AMB20 system which works with a special interfacecard that goes inside the compuer (dunno how its called in English, but you can understand right ???). Since laptops dont have room for extra stuff inside its a bit hard to do. But the later versions with a AMB232 interface box works with a laptop just fine (we do).
