Hey Dan...
I am running the Rx8 and 1700 kv combo in your old RC8be with great sucess. I ran the 1900 kv in my old Hyper 9 with sucess as well. I have the updated case and no problems. I am using Industrial velcro to secure it . I had a couple of the old cases, they failed, sent it in for repair and got it back super quick. Gotta love Tekin customer service, they stand behind their products.
Thanks for the great buggy as well. 2 TQ's and 2 wins out of 3 races that I have used it. Have not touched a thing.

I had a problem with my 4 hole RX8 right after the first run - Tekin fixed the ESC with a "workaround" and send it back to me with a cracked case ... (4 hole !)
Now, about 10 month later I have the same problem and have to send it in again ... (and obviously have to pay for their design flaw).
But now I will buy a second backup RX8 because in my opinion it is better than a castle monster max

i had very bad luck with the old 4 hole version............but my newer 3 hole version has been great with no issues

I ran my original 4 hole version from when they first came out for a year. It died, no big deal. Then I installed my spare (4 hole version) that was purchased at the same time as the original. It died on the 2nd run.
Then I replaced it with a new 3 hole red heat sink version and it has been flawless.

Tekin
Smoothness cannot be beat, interface easy, performance sets the bar their customer service OMG is awesome they back their products 110%. Their on the forums helping and answering questions. Every electronic device will fail they worked through a period which had some issues but Tekin came out with a revision with much success. Many racers I know have swapped out their castle for tekin due to performance

3 hole version here.......just ran it 3 days in a row (1 practice day and two days of racing with a 10 minute main) Did the 212 update during the practice day and its run flawless in my MP9e with 1900kv T8 motor. Waaaay smoother than my LRP SX8 is. I have a few hours on mine now with absolutely no issues

I have a 4 hole case that is by far the ESC in my collection. Never had any issue's no matter what vehicle it has been in, never a issue when ran on 6s, or w/ high voltage servo's.
I can not say enough about the awesome support from Tekin. Always able to take time to answer question's. Just a all around great company. Do your self a favor and get a RX8, RS Pro, etc

I have 4 RX8s. When they were in the 4 hole case, they went bad regularly. All 4 were upgraded to 3 hole case and I have not had a single problem since. Nearly bulletproof now.

Thanks for all the input. I just received an RX8 with the 3-hole case today and ran it for a couple of minutes in my Hyper 9e on 3s, 2050 motor. Can't wait to see how well it fares at Indy and Mike's in Dallas, and T & T in Shreveport. I love being able to program the basics with such intuitive ease with just the two buttons. Going by the reputation that the new 3-hole case version is getting, I think the older versions were simply suffering teething problems, just like the Mamba Monster V1s and V2s did. Nothing's perfect right from the get-go.
Thats Hartson's setup for you. The RC8Be is undeniably a great-handling car. I always liked the way it drove, especially after installing the 10x1.1mm tapered pistons. Glad to hear you're having success with it.

So, if you have used a Tekin RX8, please post the following information:
-Which version it is, including which motor
-When you got it/how long you've been using it
-The setup in which you used it (include car, voltage, gearing, and intensity of running; IE, bashing or hard racing)
-Any problems you have had with it
-Your experience with Tekin's repair service if you had to send it in

I run the first one on 4S LiPo with the Tekin 2050KV buggy motor geared 14:47. I race it every other week and usually get about 1 hour runtime of practice with some other E-8 drivers in between races. I only race this car.
Initially, I had the RX8 show "wrong motor type" LED code after 5 minutes of running. Sent the motor and ESC back to Tekin. They found a short in the motor that led to the "wrong motor type" code, and sent me a new 2050 motor back with the ESC untouched. I would say Tekin's service is excellent.
The second RX8 was used to run a Novak 6.5HV on 3S for a while in a Slash converted to a late model. This year it has been used to run a Neu 1512 2.5D on 4S LiPo in a real 1/8th dirt oval late model and has run perfectly the whole season.

The Tekin systems are awesome. I have been running the 3 hole case the last couple of months and have really beat the crap out of it and it is still going like when I first installed it.
There is one thing I would recommend for mounting and that is the Kyosho Zeal Gel. It is really thick, really sticky, and helps out with the harsh flat landings. I just use 2 zipties over the case to keep it secured in place. I don't pull them tight but just enough to where it won't move around.
