Building the Ultimate 1/8th
Hey guys I've been out of the loop for some time. The 1/8th scale off road was just starting with home built and custom conversions.
Now I see there are a couple kits available.
My question is what 1.8 scale buggy would you build if you wanted the best of the best. I know this sometimes is matter of opinion but I will weed thru that. Just need feedback on what to build and build right the first time. Chassis speed control motor and batteries along with charger. Also if you would please give reason to why you feel is best? Also whats coming up in the enar future as new manufacturer kits to look for.

For the indoor season that is approaching, I will be building a mugen mbx6 with a tekno V4 conversion. Using thunderpower batteries and tekin electronics along with hitec 7940 steering and brake servos. This in my opinion (take it for what its worth) is the best equipment out there.
The mugen factory conversion looks like everything else out there and I do like running mechanical brakes. I haven't had any problems with my tekin equipment and it is the best available. For charger, just make sure that it is a higher quality one that will be able to charge at the amps that you need it to.

I'll second that list to be of the higher quality, Tekno's V4 kit's for most companies is a great choice, Tekin #1 all around in my book, I may choose Venom 40c's they have been a Slash of mine running a 2200kv MM and have proven to be a great battery, but ya if I was running a buggy that's a great start.

from what ive seen it depends on how much you want to spend.....i am also new to the 1/8th scale and i do know that when you get your choice of buggy you cant go wrong with the rx8 t8 combos from tekin, they are very adjustable to the setup you have and the customer service is the best in the business....

Chassis - RC8Be , a little heavy but one of the most bullet proof cars
that I know of.
Esc/Motor - Tekin RX8/Redline T8 (1900kv)
Servo - AE1015 , plenty fast and strong enough. I personally would
not run a brake servo and instead would use that room on the chassis
for a RX pack and run straight motor brakes.
Radio - KO Propo EX-10 Eurus , fits my had better than any other radio
I have tried.
Receiver - KO Propo KR-409S
Batteries - Turnigy 4s LiPo, capacity would depend on the length of mains.
Charger - Hyperion EOS 0615i Duo3 Dual

If you want the best of the best, I would suggest a Neu motor (the original). It is more efficient and is lighter than the cheaper copies (like Tekin and Castle). I have had Castle, I have a Tekin and I have a Neu 1415 1Y. All are good, but Neu is the best.

All the 1/8 buggys are pretty sick. Ae doesnt need aditional conversion kit, neither does losi, others do though. Just get what company and look you like.

If you are thinking about building your own chassis, I would recommend you check out my thread in my signature. I designed it because every conversion/electric 8th scale i've seen on the market is missing at least one thing that is important.
My conversion has proven to be very successful in my own hands. Can't say whether its the car or my driving skills rapidly improving, but whatever works!

I myself am planning on building a mugen also with the tekno v4. Pretty much the same setup as above but I'm going to use their new clutch and mech brakes. Also 1550kv on 6s. I'm not a super serious racer just local so I've signed off on the 4s batteries. More voltage less amp draw better setup!

I have to love my Z-car. They were on sale for really cheap a while back not sure now though. It is very tough. I havent broken anything chasis or kit related since I bought one cept for some diff bearings went out on me(not the diffs fault) and some lost hardware. All I had to buy was a $40 rcmonster mount and $13 battery tray.

Btw there no such thing as ultimate built as technology advance everyday. What you buy today will be history in 6 months time.
Rc manufacturers produces new stuffs everyday.
Rc is all about budget & skill. You may drive the most expensive car but can't win a race.
Or you may drive a average car n still podium every race. It's all abt setup & skill
Different drivers will have different taste. Posting a question like this is like asking apples & orange.
There's alot of infor in 1/8 electric off road thread US & Singapore. Read it & you will get what you are looking for.
Just my 2 cents.
