guys my 3rd diff gear shot, i put my brakes way down, and my slipper on the loose side.

i bought shims so i can tighten the gears bc there was a slight play when i installed. So which sides should i throw the shims? any tips? also i put a few dots of lube on the gears b4 i close the cases...

throw the shims on the opposite side of the teeth to push the diff closer to the pinion for a tight mesh. see what i posted in the island raceway thread as well.

You're right but I was trying new things to improve my B44.1, at the moment I'm trying different shock oils w/different valves. I bought blank valves and been drilling different sizes and see whats better.

Again IMO the Kyosho springs are better. I tried both

Is it always the same front or rear? or is it varied. If it seems to be the same one you need to look for a bind on that side of the drivetrain. You should shim the gears so there is very little to NO play but still rotates smooth, you shouldnt have to force it to rotate the diff. How are you setting your slipper, sometimes setting it on the ground, wheel spin seems like slipper slipping. Check your cases for cracks or lost screws, if the case is flexing past normal the gears could strip

is it that much better? i'm running black/yellow losis right now. having a tough time trying to pull the trigger on $80 worth of springs for my 2w and 4wds. was gonna go with yellow/white on the 4w and white/gold on the 2w.

just a wild guess, but i don't think anyone on here has a 6800kv motor. 81/19 would be a good start if you had a 7.5 though....

Tyvm for the reply. I have been running 1/5 and 1/4 scale for many years now. Last time I had a 1/10 scale I was about 14. I am unsure on how the turns on motors relate to KV.With jets I fly we always go by KV to pick how fast we want to spin the fan. I apologize for my ignorance. Should I start with a 19 tooth and go by the temps and performance of the car? I don't want to burn anything up the first 10 minutes on the track.

I bought them for both B4.1 and B44.1, I haven't tried my B4.1, but on my B44.1 they made a difference. Using the Losi springs was a great improvement, then the stock AE springs, Kyosho springs just feel a bit better especially when I hit the corners and jumps.

You may also want to rearrange the shims on the input shaft to move the pinion gear a little closer to the ring gear. I have seen some combination of trans case, pinion, bearing be enough out of tolerance that the pinion gear would rub the trans case. I got a better mesh after moving the pinion closer to the ring gear.

The mesh needs to be tight enough that you think it is TOO tight, then it should wear in nice.
