I have a 6.5 T in my B44. I raced it today a medium sized track and it was getting hot around 185 degrees with Losi system. What gearing are you guys running?

According to the Associated website, those shock upgrade kits are for TC3, TC4 and 10L4 Oval shocks. How do they fit on the B44 shocks?

Genius!

That's correct. These were made for the on-road shocks and have been around for years. However the bore and thread size are still the same size as the newer V2 offroad shocks so some guys still use them. I have not tried them... I highly doubt it will be a magical difference. It's just driver preference...

6.5 is a bit much motor for any indoor track... We run 19 or 20 with an 81 spur gear with a 7.5 motor.

mikesd1980 02-13-2012 07:00 AM

I am taking it to Motorama this weekend and I probably will still be using the 6.5T motor. I only got for this race and it came with that motor. Do you know what gearing I should go with?

It didnt seem like too much motor for the track. It was running perfect to me, it was just getting hot.

Buckaroo 02-13-2012 07:31 AM

Looking at getting one of these buggies. Is it worth the little extra coin to get the B44.1 instead of the standard B44?

mikesd1980 02-13-2012 08:06 AM

If your getting a new one, I would probably get the B44.1. I got my slightly used and ARTR. I looked at a B44.1 yesterday and I think they look the same. The only difference to me is the shocks and chassis. I dont know what else was changed.

I am curious will the B44.1 body fit the B44?

If you can get a NIB B44 for close to 1/2 price of the B44.1, I'd say go for it. Add the $6 for the bleeder caps and $20 for the cradle if you run lipos. You will then have one heck of a car. A buddy of mine did just this over the weekend.

Tyler Keel 02-13-2012 08:49 AM

Besides kit setup, whats everyone running setup wise for a good start? Just got a 44.1 and just looking for a good starting point. Thanks.

the box stock setup is a very good setup for most tracks I would say to get the ballast wheight for it and the big bore springs also run the front diff tighter then the rear it will give you some more forward drive.

JoshCorti11 02-13-2012 09:14 AM

Hey guys just ordered all the stuff to do the bigbore spring conversion on my b44.1 and I went with the silver spring in the front and yellow In the rear would this be a good starting point for a medium bite track and what ride height are you guys running with the big bore springs.

According to JC, the stock B44.1 body won't fit the B44 without modifications
(never tried swapping between the two myself).

It would require trimming the CF chassis to a new angle behind the front wheels.

I'm running 18/81 but a 19 will work to on our track. Lrp ESC and Sonic 6.5.

Best thing you can do to avoid breaking arms is to not hit the wall/pipes/other cars.

It also will keep your front shock shaft consumption to a minimum.

lol.
I am working on my 4th arm right now from getting a little to throttle happy and smacking the wall.

It's just so FUN to drive and watch it fly lol

UN4RACING 02-14-2012 06:39 PM

All I have left on my new .1 is the shocks. Just finished the camber links and thought I would share one of my tricks to make it easier to build and repair in a pinch.

The shock cap is more than just a shock cap wrench. Its a ball cup wrench. It makes turnbuckles a no brainer.....

Thanx. Its my sworn duty to help all the B44.1 AE drivers out best I can....

If you have an extra cap tool you can cut the wrench end off and it makes changing a ball cup while its on the kit much faster and easier.

UN4RACING 02-14-2012 07:04 PM

Looking forward to one of these. And the ESC upgrade.

Those x20s look sweet. Wonder how much the upgrade board is going to be. Ive been through 4 SXXs in the last 6 months, so hopefully it will fix some issues. Lovin my orion in my 2wd. Still got a TC spec in my wheeler though.

I think he said it will be released next month. And the upgraded ESC I probably wont do just yet. I'm having great luck with Stock Spec.

I heard the comps had some BEC isssues. I went with the Stock spec just in case we had another stock shoot out. Turns out it works great for Mod 4x4. I'm thinking of bumping my motor to the 5.5. We will see what kind of torture it can take before I replace it. It supposed to handle a 4.0. But I don't think our track is quite that fast.

switched to viper and i have never had a problem. I love the orion feel also, viper feels just as good. I think lrp has to step up to the plate. Less and less i am noticing run them, plus the brakes blow. :p

so I was throwing on my trick parts in my 4wd, redoing shocks, when to the diffs and the rear diff gear has a chipped tooth, 2nd one!

Someone told me to tighten down my slipper but I had it set so it jumped about 2 inches when holding the back wheels..i guess thats what killed it...ugh..

JakeC351 02-17-2012 04:01 PM

hey guys if anyone has a b44.1 they want to sell shoot me a pm really want to get a 4wd SOON

Grouchman 02-18-2012 08:40 PM

On Thursday I ran my B44.1 with Losi big bores silver fronts and yellow rear.... buggy ran great, but felt the front end a bit off. So went to the hobby shop, picked up some Losi green for the front, ran even better. Today I changed the springs to Kyosho yellow front and white rear. Kyosho springs are much better then the Losi spring IMO. My buggy is running great.
