Is this Lipo battery junk ?

lipo's are restricted cargo, as with all lithium products they like to catch on fire and explode once and a while. they must be shipped as hazardous products, hobbyking have been not declaring to the airlines that lipo's are in the boxes. it's why they've gone through 3 different airlines to ship in the last year.
also, almost everyone knows about hobbyking, thousands and thousands of people order lipo's month from them, including stores to resell at huge markups .. so if there's less than 100+ instock there's a danger that those 100+ will be gone by the time your credit card goes through.(rare, but possible)...
customs also will detain most shipments coming from asia, as the entire pallet is packed in china, if one box needs to be checked, then the entire pallet full of residential and busniess packages gets pulled into customs to be opened and then eventually repacked and released.
hobbyking now mostly ships with swisspost, swiss post's slogan is "for the most disconcerning customers in the world" .. most border officials know that while swisspost may allow damn near anything in their cargo hold, that they're definately going to need to go over the shipping manifest with a fine tooth comb.
also as swisspost has very limited routes, shipping is indirect and must go through several custom checks before it gets to northamerica. for shipping to australia, new zealand, asia, europe swisspost works well. but not usa/canada.
most of my packages arrive in a week or less, one swisspost package took 21days.(3weeks and was in stock when ordered).
cheers, eh!

they are not ALWAYS slow... Just pay the EMS shipping and get them in a week! Since you are getting the batteries for next no nuthin, might as well spend the money to get them faster! I have ordered from them 3 times so far, EMS all three times and got them in a week each time!

My HK order took 2 weeks using their snail mail...so it "might" not be that bad

You guys are all using crappy batteries. ThunderbirdJunkie is using Tedlium Polynugent batteries. 300ah, and 600c. A big step up from the Lithichuck Norrismer batteries he was using before that were only 10,000mah and 275C.
You cheaped out on the shipping. They're coming from Hong Kong. The cheap shipping takes fordamnever. Took about 5 weeks for ThunderbirdJunkie to receive his HK order when he ordered with cheap shipping.
Would it be inappropriate to make a Nirvana joke about lithium's self-destructive nature?

I run the 5000mah 20C turnigy hardcases in my 1/8 Jammin buggy and they have been working fine, staying cool, balanced, etc. That said, I bought them as more of an experiment, not really expecting great results, but it turned out OK. The next time I buy packs I will go for 30-50C packs. And in my truggy I wouldn't run anything less than 30C.
Also, for what it's worth, I got about 80-90A peaks (measured with an EagleTree) running my buggy, and the voltage of the packs stayed well within reasonable range under those loads.

C-rating and battery capacity work hand in hand - it factors into how many amps the pack will hold continuously.
For instance:
My Checkpoint 5400 is only a 16c. It can hold 86.4 amps continuous.
My Orion 3400 is 20C. It can hold 68 amps continuous.
My Trinity 3800 is 35c. It can hold 133 amps continuous.
A Zippy Flightmax 4000 25c will hold 100 amps continuous.
And the 5000 20c packs should hold 100 amps continuous as well.
When you get up above 4000 mah, c-rating doesn't matter much for off road because the cells can handle the amp draw no problem. Keep in mind that most of the best Ni-Mh cells could only produce about 10-12c continuous.
