Castle Creation motor sale

Not sure if this has been posted here, but you guys might want to check out CC, as they have drastically reduced the price on their 15xx and 17xx series motors. The sale prices are $60-70, regular retail is around $200. We found this out over at the FE boating forum and there was a frenzy going on. Amain has not changed the price to reflect this but I suspect they don't know. :batman:

"We have a few hundred odds and ends that we rediscovered when we moved our entire operations at the end of July.

These motors are all made to Castle specs in the same factory that makes our best selling car and truck motors. The motors are great, the projects just didn't happen due to any number of reasons.

The motors are sold as is. That means no warranty. Not because we don't trust them, but because they came from limited runs and we simply don't have replacements here to offer for returned products."

Regardless, I ordered a few. Too good to pass up.

Yeah, me too, I ordered a 1717 (my 2nd one) and a 1580. Prices just too good to pass up.

I started watching the Castle thread on RCM when they said there was a motor sale coming up. I got my order confirmation yesterday from Castle.

I just snagged a couple of the 1512 1800kv buggy motors.. those are beastly motors, I may even try to run it in my truggy to extend run time and reduce weight.. I only gear for 36mph anyway so it may just be up to the task... if not I'll just keep them for my 8ight buggy when my lektron motors need replacing. For 120 for a pair of those motors you can't go wrong.

Anyone actually run a 1512 in a truggy? Was thinking about trying the same as compared to my 1700kv T8.

Also like the 1518 though a more serious big arse motor....

The lektron I run in my buggy now is a 2200kv basically 1512 motor maybe less and it stays super cool... time will tell if the 1512 will hold up in my truggy or not... I do run mechanical brakes and a clutch so I would imagine that will only help keep the motor happy.

Yeah, I had placed and order on a 1520 from AMAIN Hobbies, paid 209 less the discount this week. Needless to say, I have emailed AMAIN about CC new prices. So hopefully I will get a refund. Warrant or no warranty, still can't beat these prices compared to the Leopard motors that currently out there.:D

Ya, running my1700kv tekin works out pretty well on 5S. Temps are pretty good though I did put a controller out recently (that Tekin took care off no questions asked  )

I have thought about running the 1518 in the truggy though with the current limiter pulled back. Should be pretty efficient and with the extra torque, it should stay cooler.

I'm still running motor brakes so a little more taxing on the motor. 1518 is also a smidgy quicker so could prolly go down another tooth on the pinion (15T) and pull even less current....

Decisions. Pretty dam* cheap even just to try. Non-sensored but.....

Sorry to say, but it's extremely unlikely that will happen. This is a special limited time offer from Castle on the backstock of 15-series motors that they have extras of (basically the ones not offered in MMM combos). They haven't changed the prices permanently, and retailers such as A-main have no involvement in the sale.

I ordered a 1518, which will replace the 1515 in my truggy, and the 1515 will then go in my buggy.

I also was thinking of picking up a 1800kv for my buggy. Would this be ok to run on 4s? Seems to good to be true!

Justpassedu 09-25-2010 09:40 PM

Whats the difference in these motor's , wich one would have the highest top speed on 4s and run well in a truggy ?

Ordered the 1800 buggy motor. Note that you can save ~$3 in shipped by choosing priority mail over UPS.

Since this is the internet i'll put a link to the page.

Justpassedu 09-26-2010 12:13 PM

Wich of these motors will produce the highest top end and is safe to run 4s in a truggy , I am guessing the 1800kv but what's the difference between the 1y & 1.5y?
