Default 1/8 Buggy Battery C Rating Help/Gearing Help

I have an RC8Be with a 2250kv motor and 80amp ESC (Xerun).

I've lost 4X 20C 5000mah Zippy Flightmax Lipos to puffing because the batteries got HOT. And I mean as hot as NIMH batteries do.

I only have 2X Tenergy(Not Turnigy) 5000mah 20C left. And they get REAL HOT. Like steaming hottub hot. They had about 100 runs on them by now I got them in April or Early May this year. They finally started to puff, but very slightly. After all those hot runs in the heat they took a big beating. And I bash crazy. Slammed my buggy down onto the concrete time after time.(Not as much anymore.)

Anyways I ordered a 30C lipo, would this get as hot? I'm geared with a 13T pinion, 46T spur(stock). I hope I am no undergeared causing the heat.

Let me hear you thoughts, thanks again.

the 30c should not puff.

20c in anythong other then a 10th is not enough.

these big 1/8 systems eat up the amps!

30c minimum!

Yes, you need 30C (30 x 5000mAh gives 150A, and you can pull 80% of this).
But you appear to be under-geared. I would guess 15T would be better.

I figure a 15T would make it run hotter. I thought undergeared was about 11T I am going to change it in that case. I am glad that I went with 30C, I was new to the buggy world when i bought the 20C also they were dirt cheap locally.

Undergeared makes your motor hot, not your batteries
