I will buy one of these. I do hope they get released before spring. With the Nitro version going into production I cant imagine it will be that long

I'm hoping for the same thing, springtime at the latest. We also have to remember Durango has a 4wd SCT coming in december, and a 2wd buggy they're hoping to get out before next summer as well. They are a very busy company right now, kudos to them for making race vehicles.

based on the CAD pics..it appears to be (2) 2S packs or (2) 3S packs. I like the unique battery hold-down strap.

Saddle pack setup on an 1/8 buggy is by far the best layout. I am glad Durango has been paying attention. They are cranking out some amazing cars.

I really want this buggy... and I just got my 8ight-E running too. Depending on when it gets released I may pick one up, though I don't like HRP as the distributor, makes it difficult to get stuff locally. If it was Horizon or GP I wouldn't even think twice... I'd start stashing cash away and await the release date.

As impressed as I've been with past and current Durango cars, I'm not a fan of saddle packs and 1/8th. They end up being heavier than a single pack and slower if you need to do a battery swap during a race. I'm also not into the ESC being mounted up high were it can be hit during a crash.

I'm not sure that a saddle pack in this case is slower to swap during a race. The battery clip must be a lot faster than the current velcro straps. I've been racing and bashing with the ESC mounted up high on my current e-coversions, and I've had no accident with it despite some heavy crashes.

I wonder if you could mount (1) 4S pack on one side and the ESC, receiver and PT on the other empty battery slot with ballast weight to compensate. This would put the ESC down into the chassis. I'm sure the car will be heavy as a pig and the additional weight will be unwelcomed.

Looks like it's designed for 2x2S or 2x3S. I'm guessing this is fixed unless someone designs an aftermarket chassis or motor mount. You can always stack a 4s and figure out a way to use straps and velcro. Oddly enough, the VE8 puts the battery on the same side as the motor with very little off balance effect. It flies nice in the air too.

Saddle configs are becoming desirable in this new electric 8th market. Saddles allow Mah changes without compromising balance and/or adding extra weights. I know HH makes a saddle chassis for the VE8 that users swear by. You can build it side-by-side but no one does.
