Default SLASHER: Traxxas Slash with extended Rustler Chasis

just thought id share my extended rustler slash. saw many similar conversions on here and thought id try it out. handles great!!!!

i got 1/16"x3/4" aluminum angle from home depot. used #6x3/4" screws and nylon lock washers. only thing i did different from others is that i used the angle on the bottom as well. had to cut it down on the band saw to 5/16", but i am sure it still helps a bit.

love it on the street. hitting the track tonight!

STRC makes a conversion package that uses the Rusty chassis and extends the rear or the truck. It is heavy annodized aluminum plates, hardware, and new aluminum mounts for the front bumper to the chassis.

It works great. I just tested it this week after completing my conversion.

yeah, i looked into that.... but my parts were under $5!
(vs. $40 for STRC)

i'm glad strc came up with this, now we just need RPM or someone to come out with an actual plastic chassis that is a direct bolt on!

I have the STRC kit and it is sweet. I have run the truck to test once and will race it this weekend; it is much faster, jumps better, and corners much faster and flater than before.

The only concern I have with your set up is the exposure of the batt in the open chassis. If you run lipos, something could puncture the lipo case by coming up through the bottom of the open chassis.

yeah, you are correct. been thinking of epoxying some thin plastic under the battery to keep it safe.

got rained out last night, so still no track results yet....

The rustler has a shorter wheelbase than a slash... this just makes up the difference...

yep, this is the same dimensions as a stock slash. you change to a rustler chassis to lower the center of gravity (improve handling). but the rustler is 1.8" shorter, so you have to extend it.
