We have been trying to provide Long Island with just that. We are not asking for any handouts. We just need the land and have even offered to rent it. I have not given up, but have met many deadends.

Great idea. And Betts if you continued with your agenda, that would mean two great outdoor tracks in less than an hours drive. Can't get much better than that. I'm going to register at the forum now.

The thing that sucks is we can't even get a dragstrip on long island and this causes a problem of street racing, death, crime, and police resources which leads me in turn to believe that a small minority of nitro r/c racers will have trouble as well. Long island is more concerned about land for affordable housing or commercial development.... don't flame i have been to many town meetings over the years and heard their alternative ideas.

On the other hand this is something kids and familys can do together which is a strong positive.

All power to ya'll you have my vote and participation.

just speaking from my experience living on LI.

How many bmx tracks are on long island ?

didn't south shore have a outdoor nitro track ? what town was it in ?

That land on 112 out east would be perfect if you know what i am talking about.

Yeah starting tracks here is tough. But it's not out of the question if the community works for it.

It also boils down to support. People want these things for free. It's going to cost money to do it. People aren't going to be willing to spend a lot though because the tracks today don't get the support they need. Tracks cost a lot espeically in this area. Though people want it to cost next to nothing to do it. You can't even go to the movies and get a soda and popcorn for the cost of racing. Thats onlly to hours. A race day is a good portion of a day.

Jerry and I were talking to a guy from NY who helps run an offroad club in NJ, they managed to get some land in a state park that isn't close to any houses. They get over 100 entries per week and its been very popular. NJ is as bad or worse than NY with ORV laws and regulations, I think someone can make it happen.
