Revolution V2 Touring Motor
I AM NEW TO MODIFIED RACING AND I WAS WONDERING WHAT THE DIFFERENCE IS BETWEEN THE ORION V2 MODIFIED AND V2 TOURING MOTORS.
CAN THE TOURING MOTOR BE USED IN OFFROAD?
I HAVE PICKED UP 12T DOUBLE V2 TOURING AND WAS PLANNING ON USING IT IN A T4 TRUCK.
WOULD THE CHARACTERISTICS OF THE TOURING MOTOR BE UNSUITABLE FOR THE T4?
ANY ADVICE WOULD BE APPRECIATED.

The touring motor comes with sprint brushes instead of enduro as found in the modifed. Also, the touring has a slightly wider web for more tork then the modified, but most people can't notice the difference.
It will work fine for offroad.

Just to clear some things up.
1.The touring and modified version motors both come with enduro brushes.
2.The modified version comes with a thicker web which will give you a smoother power-band.
3.The touring version comes with a thinner web which will give you a more punchy power-band.
We run both the modified and touring versions in off-road depending on the driver.

They are laminations. That part of the armature is made up of several thin pieces of steel that are all pressed onto the armature shaft and "laminated" together. The area of the armature (which is made up of the steel laminations aka lams) that the wire wraps around is called the web. FYI, the top part of the lams where you will find drill balance holes is called the crown.
Different shapes and sizes of webs and crowns will cause different characteristics in how the armature runs. It will also effect winding pattern. Not only that, but different thickness' of the lams as well as what kind of steel they are punched from also has an effect on the performance characteristics.
