Default 1/8 brushless motor/ESC combo?

We are working on a RC8 buggy conversion project and I like to know your opinion of the different combos on the market.

The Castle Creations 2200kv motor and ESC is our choice so far. It is affordable and have great reputation.

Tekin is certainly a great but a little bit expensive.

What are your thoughts....

Thanks

The Mamba Max Pro is very popular for 1/8 buggies. Many (including myself) run them with good results, they can handle the load no problem and are very affordable. I would go with a 1512 sized Castle or Tekin motor. 5-6S with a lower kv motor would be a good choice.

Reaper -> Thanks for the offer but at this time, I'm just looking at different possibilities

SimpleChamp -> I plan to run on 4S with a 2200kv. I think it will be a nice setup

I can say this. I have run 4s for over a year now and thought it was the sh1t

Then I tried a 6s Setup. WOW, Ill never go back to 4s

Do some reading before you buy

Like Reaper is getting at, if many of us could go back and do it all over again we'd go with low kv motor and 6S. 4S will get the job done, but run times suffer.

If wasn't already invested in my current setups, I'd be going to 6S and low kv.

MMM is the way to go. You can still run a tekin motor if you so choose. A tougher speedo you won't find.

Agree with the 6S advice: low kv and excellent run times (for example 22 minutes instead of 15), and superb driving
4S is cheaper, but 6S is worth the price. (I use a 1350Kv Hacker C50 XL - smooooooth)

If you go with something cheap I just bought the SP Silver Arrow II and it has been great. Low temps and nice, smooth power. It was $80 shipped from SP USA.

I already have few good 2S packs, this is why I was looking for a 4S setup
