Sorry for all the questions, I was wondering if I would be able to run a 8 cell 9.6V 5000MaH Duratrax NiMH battery in my bone stock slash (12T Titan) or my bone stock SC10 (Reedy 17T).

Would this burn the motors up or wreck the ESC? I read somewhere that the only time the motor and ESC would be getting the full 9.6V is at WOT, so if your WOT time is limited it shouldnt be a problem?

Not a good idea for the SC10, Plenty of burnt up Reedy 17 Turns with
a 7cell pack. Good LiPos are not that expensive and will give better
performance than that brick of a pack.

Should be ok in the slash as the XL-5 has a max voltage of 9.6v, not sure about the sc10 though

Max voltage for the SC10 ESC is 8.4V. It is in the ESC manual that comes with your car. Max voltage for the 17 turn motor is 7.4V.
