Default Futaba MC330CR LiPO compatible?

I'm about to hook up 7.4V Lipo saddle packs to the MC330CR speed controller. Can the ESC handle this? Is there any difference between high end NiMh saddle packs and the LiPO saddle packs in terms of performance? I have two different setups and will choose the most 'simplest' equipement. I'm not using low turn brushed motors or a low turn brushless motor, either a 13T double for the brushed motor and a 9t for the brushless.

Any opinions?

Its rated to 6 to 7 cells. 2S shouldn't be a prob. It has no builtin lvc though, so you'll either have to add one, use an lva or watch your time carefully so you don't overdischarge your lipo.

Thank you for reminding me the mc330 does not a low voltage cutoff. What run times should i be xpecting from a Lipo 5000 saddle pack geared with a 13T double motor (20/81) on a trf 511? Is 7 minutes reasonable?

I can't see where that shouldn't work, 7min with a 5000mah shouldn't even be close. Pay attention to the mah your charger puts back in and calculate a mah/min. Then you'll really know where you stand.
