Default Two holes

These are the two holes I had to bore out. They are marked with a blue sharpie.

QA problem? Idk... it's all fine now. I got it fitted correctly as well.

The tekins have the 4 3x10 holes, and 2 4x8mm holes.

Do you think you could make the pictures a little bigger? They're like postage stamp size on my monitor.

Strange. I didn't have to bore mine out at all. I just had to turn the button head down some to make it a smaller diameter.

Sorry I'm asking a lot of questions about this tonight guys....

I have the screws in (except one, apparently a button head isn't going to work on that one so I left it empty) - and the pinion I'm putting on is a MOD 1 - 5mm Pinion short shank. It should work, except it is only 1/2 on the spur gear.

Is this normal with this mount?

I only used the M3 screws. Not like it's going to fall out.

And the build.

What pinion? I use Hot Bodies pinions, and I can get full engagement between the pinion and spur.

Looks good Gregg, and you know the saying. Overkill is juuuuuuust right.

BTW, I finally received all my packages. Shipped 2/2/11, arrived 2/16/11! The others were shipped 2/7/11 and 2/8/11 and arrived on 2/15/11. At least I got them, I guess.

Ha, I am slow at building cars (unless you were talking to gregg); but in either case, I'm slow because I have so much other crap going on all the time and money. OMG< these things can get expensive... build it piece by piece and save the lunch money

I got everything on. There is one hole I couldn't get a 4x10mm screw in because the button head was overlapping the outer plate of the mount; so I said to hell with it. I agree with gregg, the 3x10mm would have been just fine, but Grid should have at least made the other 2 holes you CAN put a 4x10mm the right width.

Concerning the gear mesh, i turned the pinion around so the shank was pointing out. Now for you RC pro's I'm sure that was a no brainer, but I thought it wasn't good to run it that way. I always put the shank up against the motor on all my 1/10 scale cars.

I'm pretty sure I got it.

So, did you guys bother screwing down your ESC or ya just double tape it?

I watched the youtube RC8 build videos. In part 1 the guy says to drill out the hinge pin holes in the front arms to let them move freely. He says use a #18 size bit. I only have normal fractional bits. #18 = 0.1695, the closest I have is 11/64 which is 0.1719. Will 0.024" extra be too large? I can't find numbered bits locally individually, and I don't want a full set for $60. My hinge pins are quite snug in the holes so I would like to do this. Any opinions?
