Is bashing bad for a car?

On the cars I have looked at used, like a Traxxas Slash for example, the owner will say, "No bashing, just races." I understand what they are saying just that they haven't beat it up, but my question is if that really matters. What would it matter if the car had been used for bashing? Can't you just replace a car part if it breaks?

Thanks.

typically a car that's "bashed" isn't taken care of as well as a car that's "raced" so it might have unseen bent parts or other problems.

Yes you can replace the parts no problem you can bash any car you want . Just if you start racing and get the car handling really good you probably wont want to bash it anymore because of all the time and work you put into it .

alot of bashing takes place on paved roads and scratches the hell out of the underside of the frame.that not only weakens the frame but also makes new places for dirt to hide, not to mention it looks like crap.
i regretted taking my racer out on the street cuz now it looks old and beat

Often a car that's used for bashing has way more run time on it and has been bounced off of everything 10 times, just the way it is. Parts that aren't broken are often well worn.

Like buying a used truck that had a plow on it it's whole life (you have to live in the snow belt to understand) It looks just as good as the other ones with the same mileage but it's a whole different story once you drive it.

My mbx6 takes more beating from racing than bashing...

I race and bash all the time, my advice have a track car and a bash car. I have a HPI Firestorm Flux for a basher and it hasn't let me down yet.

I usually keep a car just for bashing, I treat it in ways I'd never treat my race car, I also "fix" it in ways I would never fix my race cars.

I guess I need to buy a second e-truggy :)

Really you want your basher to be cheap. No fancy smancy race parts needed.

+1 on both of those statements.

I have bashers and racers. I never race the bashers and never bash the racers.

Think about this: why do they call it "bashing"? Because you are always bashing into things!

Here's a pic of a CVD from one of my bashers. You would never see this on a race car. But it is a basher, so I don't care.

Is the word "bashing" lost on everyone?

Generally a car that has been bashed would have been 'pushed' harder than a car that has been raced.
But its mainly up to the individual person what they think is bashing and how hard it is bashed. To me bashing is any driving thats not racing

sorry double post:eek:
