Looking for some advice on the HW 8th setups.
I'm after a motor and esc for 8th ep buggy racing (not bashing, racing) on outdoor, med-large track (150 foot straight).
1. Is there any performance or reliability difference between 150a or 80a esc? will either do?>
2. Am I after sensored or sensorless (my feeling is sensored....)
3. Am I after the 2250kv or the 2000kv motor?
4. anywhere you know that has these in stock?
I think I'm looking for either the M5a combo (150/2250/sensored) or M6a combo (150/2000/sensored).
Any help/advice appreciated.

If it's a buggy u are ok with 2250kv with 80amp esc.
Unless u intend to use more than 4s then 150amp is better.
Hobbywing 1:8 motors are non sensored but they are smooth.
I am using their sensored prototype motors, which they will launch out soon.
How soon? I dunno.
Both system runs cool.
150amp n 2000kv is more for truggy.

I have a small problem with my 150A Turnigy ESC. It's identical to the old 150A Hobbywing unit.
If I have a rough landing or the rear of the cars chassis slaps into the ground I get a 2sec cutout from the ESC.
Is it about to fail on me, or is something else wrong? Firmware?

err ok, but u posted in a hobbywing product thread? i cant help u if its not a hobbywing product. i have no knowlegde about turnigy esc. Maybe emailing hobbyking will help.
As far as i know even xerun products do not have anti shock protection. Everything is screw n bolted on. Most racers will use thicker double sided tape to absorb the shocks & jumps.

I bought a used 80a esc and tested it and it works but switch is missing. It seems that in order to properly calibrate esc to radio that programming button on switch is needed. Does anyone know if all of the switches with programming buttons on them are the same, such as the Novak and Losi ones? If so I would buy one of those as I dont know where to get the Hobbywing switch. Thanks

Shortcircuit the RED and WHITE wires of the switch, and let the Black wire of the switch free (that means you just cut the Black wire and do NOT connect the black wire with anything. )
In such a way you can use the ESC but you cannot set the programmable items any more.
You can order the switch from eBay.

Just wonderin......
So, just got my Xerun 150a and sensored 4168SL motor. The esc appears to have a twin battery rig as stock---I only have one battery. Is there anything from stopping me from converting it to a single battery set up? For example, by cutting one of the connectors off and resoldering it up to be appropriate for a single battery.
The single battery I have is a 4 cell 5300mAh Lipo-6.
cheers.

I have a brand new 80a that is going into protect mode (flashing green light ) but when I temp it with multiple temp guns it is only reading around 125 degrees.
Any ideas? Is there different firmware that will let me turn off the overheat protection?
Thanks,
Kurt
