turnigy lipos ROAR approved?
 

any one know if the turnigy lipos are roar approved ..2s 5200 30-40c. i cant understand whats what on that roar site

..

what most brand names are? even modified they aren't allowed

Here is the list of ROAR approved LiPos. You can click on Approvals at the top of the page to go to the lists (motors, ESCs, etc).

The manufacturer has to submit them to ROAR for approval. There the size, availability, and safety specs are verified.

If they are not on the ROAR list it is because they were not submitted or did not pass the inspection.

ya just look at the link he gave you above and look at the list, it says the brand names and battery

I use the hyperion 5000mah 30c 2s that are on the list of approved batteries...street price is $90. Fantom has a 5000mah 40c 2s that is the same price, check the list to make sure its on there though.

the only batteries i have seen from hobbyking that are roar approved would be these polyquest

Who wants spend over 100 bucks on a pack??I do,NOT.Really turnigies are better than most of those brands on that list.They are just mad my turnigy 50c 4s lipos beat the thunderpowers that swell up all the time.:sneaky:

These rules only apply if the track follows ROAR rules or it is a ROAR event. The reason they must be approved is for insurance protection to be in place. Defective or cheaply made Lipos can cause major injuries and then the ROAR insurance steps in.

To keep the insurance in place, ROAR must approve the batts to be used.

You should ask your favorite battery manufacturer to submit their batteries for approval. The cost is minimal and there is very little paperwork - takes 5 minutes.

Rules only suck when they are an inconvenience. When they suit you they are great! Without rules you aren't racing.

I find it quite distasteful that the Clubs/Tracks that are not Roar members that hold large races want to use 95%+ of the Roar rules (that have been built over the years to benefit RC Racing) use their establishments and run their races on basically Roar rules.... but hate the thought to compensate Roar by being a Roar member!

Don't you think that maybe it's a bit more political than that? ROAR is usually slow to adapt to newer technologies. Look how long it took for them to allow brushless motors or Lipos to be used or even 2.4ghz for that matter. People want to run at tracks that will allow them to use the motors, esc's and batteries that they run in their cars and don't want to have to buy new equipment just to be in compliance with an organization that is so slow to adapt. Especially if they're beginning racers. Also, most people aren't running on a national level, so adhering to strict rules such as those imposed by ROAR just isn't needed from track to track or even regionally most times. ROAR is often behind the 8-ball when it comes to advancements in the hobby. But, the main guidelines are good to base rules off of, just not to a T. I know that if I ever opened a track, I probably wouldn't be a ROAR member for those reasons. That's my $.02
